Hey everyone! Man I feel better, I sat down and fell asleep, for 3 1/2 hours, Ahhhh, the stress of selling and all that has backed off , Now we get the stress of getting out of here by the 27th! , and getting everything to Tn.
We are going to Maryville (bottom of Knoxville), where my wifes mom lives, and then we are going to find a place for a couple weeks, so we can find a house that we want, could be there, could be in Ga, Va, Nc somewere around the east end of Tn.
I still have to change the tranny in my S-10 Blazer, I need to tow my Trike with it, the wife is driving the Mustang,....Hey who's bringing our stuff! I don't know yet! 19 months ago I searched the cost of getting a couple of 24 footers, but the cost of each went from $750ish to $1291.0 each! why??? and about $450.00 each for fuel now. I got a rough cost of $2095.00 for a moving company, that we pack it, & unpack it ourselves, which is ok with us. The neighbor up the street told me he would move us with his semi for $700.00, but that was 19 months ago, I'll have to go up and ask him again.
I sure am glad most of our stuff is packed... in the garage. Key word here is "Most"
Tomorrow I have to get a brake booster for the Mustang, it started to whistle lightly, 2 days ago, strip my Ford 9" of brackets, machine some parts for both T's, change the starter in the Mustang, hard to start when warm, finish the hitch for the Trike. When I made the new wire harness for the trike, I put a plug inside behind the headlight, so I just use a longer trailer wire and all the trikes lights work. (3 brake lights, 5 tail lights, 3 lights each side and flashing valve stem lights, 5 driving lights, and they still don't see me! )
Now I'm tired again from thinking about it!
I can hit a paper plate at 500 yards all the time, I never tried a golf ball that far out, (they really fly when you do hit them ) We used to shoot clay pigeons with our 22's, and skip 22's off the water to hit a target..Dang kids!
No! I won't miss ice fishing & shovleing snow, But I will miss driving in the snow, I came home once in 3 miles of powder snow up to the hood of my Toyota pick up, I got stuck pulling in the driveway, the snow was packed to the hood under the hood, and fan was not turning
I was in my '57 chevy (in about '68) I was going about 15-20, put the brakes on and slid a block or more, and rearended a '66 Caprice, broke all 6 of his tail lights (he was sliding also, he hit the car in front of him) I was about the 8th person/last in line, he said oh-well and left. no damage to the '57.

Oh, I don't think you are going to like the South. First of all, you have to use your hot rod 12 months out of the year! Yuck!! Then there is that little thing about never having to shovel snow again, look at all the exercise you are going to be missing out on. Then there is all that beautiful countryside around you, it's going to distract you while you are trying to drive your car......very dangerous!!
Oh, wait a minute, come to thing about it, you ARE going to love it there! Good luck.
Don
(but you ARE going to give up that neat ice fishing )

I moved here (Florida) 27 years ago from Indiana. There isn't enough money in this world to make me move back there. I grew up thinking that 8 weeks of Summer and 10 months of unpredictable, cold crappy weather was normal. Now I know better... You might see a snow flurry and some cold days in east Tennessee occasionally, but it won't last long and it's a whole bunch better than what you're used to.
When I moved, I hired a local trucker to haul all our stuff. We put two cars (a 1973 Camaro and my C-Cab hotrod), our furniture, and everything else we owned in a 40-ft. trailer. He made the run cheaper than I could rent u-hauls (I would have needed two big ones and a trailer). A word of warning here: semi trailers are made to haul loads a lot heavier than your belongings. Shortly after the move, our TV and refrigerator both died. We were told that the constant shaking from the truck probably did them in (real moving vans have softer suspension). We would have done better to sell those items and buy new ones after the move. Oh yeah, if you're hauling cars in a closed trailer, disconnect the batteries. Something moved and stuck the oogah horn in my C-Cab and it ran until the motor in it fried, siezed, and finally blew the circuit breaker. I was very lucky it didn't set the whole load on fire!
Homesickness can be a problem at first after a big move. Just keep youself active and make some friends (lots of hotrods in that part of the country). Pretty soon you'll be wondering why you didn't do this a lot sooner...Jim

My head hurts, I'm not supposed to think this hard! I have been trying find way to get my stuff to Tn. The problem, we have to stay here a couple days to take care of things here, then drive to Tn after our stuff gets there, and they don't want it on their truck till we get there, to put it in storage, till we find a house. Then we need to get a temp place (we think we have that now.) We have 3 cats & a dog with us.
Yesterday I drove 40 miles oneway to geta brake booster for my Mustang , got there it was for a 4cyl, 8 cyl is different. Arrr I went to put the starter in the Mustang today, the used starter I bought last year does not work! Arrrrrrr!
I had some R/C airplanes hanging in a R/C store, they didn't tell me they closed and a friend of mine took my planes & cars home and didn't tell me. and he won't return them! a bout $3000.00 of my stuff
BradC, My wife grew up just south of Dayton, Ohio
I am going to enjoy the fact I don't need to shovel snow, I'll sit back with a tall drink with ice in it, and watch it melt instead.
We are looking at one place that has 10 acres, without any one near by.
with big woods, and the house is in a meadow. I doubt they'll have cable! I can't use dial up! we are not the slowski's
I hear satellite for internet sucks.
I Can't wait to get there!!! and put all this behind, and kick back!
bentwings, I have been there a couple of times now, I think I will have to print that off and carry it with me, I will have to use my translater like my spell check. (My wife)
RPm, We know all about your 2" of snow, the inlaws give crap about it all the time.
Tomorrow is the inspection of our house.
