Bought my first Harley
I think I might be in a mid life crisis and bought a 07 superglide with 1400 miles on it,being cheap I never paid anything close to this except for a 2 year old truck back in 89. For the last 10 or so years I have been riding a 73 yamah 175 enduro and it was a shock to go to a harley,I needed somehing bigger for road trips and I got it now and I am getting used to the bigger bike and stil have not been on the highway much but getting there. The little yamaha was done a 45 and thats where the harley wants to start to run at,I have to sell a couple cars now to put some money back in the bank. Jeff

if this is your first bike bike you might want to take a good safety course , you are more than likely just now figuring out that harleys dont handle like some of the japanese bikes .. congratz on the new scoot!!

You'll find once you get used to the Harley, it will seem wierd to ride a smaller bike. It took me a good 2000 mile road trip to find my comfort on my 89 softtail. Now I wouldn't trade it for any other bike. It is a compromise in many situations compared to alot of other bikes, but I love the feel and look of it. And even after a700 mile day, it still felt comfortable the next day when I hoped on. By the way I learned on an old Yamaha 125 Street dirt bike. I still think fondly of it too!" The price of the bike is just the downpayment on the addiction!

I have been riding for over 20 years but legally only 12 or 13 years, the biggest I had was a honda CB 550 and the harley is totally different then the 175 I have been riding for the last 10 or so years. I am getting used to it and I hope to take a few long rides on the two lane roads next week as I am a little uneasy on the highway,I did go on the highway a little yesterday but I got behind a semi so I got off quickly as it was crowded. I am going to get up early on sunday and head out on the highway. Jeff

Hope you really enjoy your Harley. I'm sure you had fun with the Yamaha, but now you are in at a different level of fun.
One of these days I might have to get my two Gold Wings out of storage and back on the road. Sometimes I really miss riding them (both dressers, just different setups). When I stopped riding roads were busy, but now the roads are crowded with a lot of idiots who would just as soon as run you off the road as look at you.
Be careful out there and enjoy the ride.Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
