Obesity and Global Warming
GENEVA (Reuters) - Obesity contributes to global warming, too (May 15)
"Obese and overweight people require more fuel to transport them and the food they eat, and the problem will worsen as the population literally swells in size, a team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine says"
"Because thinner people eat less and are more likely to walk than rely on cars, a slimmer population would lower demand for fuel for transportation and for agriculture, the researcher said."
"This is also important because 20 percent of greenhouse gas emissions stem from agriculture, he added."
"The next step is quantifying how much a heavier population is contributing to climate change, higher fuel prices and food shortages, he added."
They will figure a way to tax us by body weight in the name of saving the planet. And when you thought that "tax your ass" was just a saying!!!

Maybe if we could cause more populations to starve.... it would cancel out our weight gains? I'll think about it over pizza & beer. :-)

But the rich will get around it by buying "FAT" credits just like Gore buys "CARBON" credits to justify his huge energy consumption.Last edited by shortyforty; 05-16-2008 at 09:36 PM.

Let me see, when I went in the US Army at 17 years old I weigh 137 pounds, 27" waist, 5'9 3/4" after 3 years I went up to 156 pounds 29"-30" waist. I leveled off at 165 pounds mid life; I quit smoking after 29 years. Oh that was because of my back surgeries, the Dr. said I had some black spots on my lungs. I went up to 195 and closing in on that 200-pound club now at 5'8" I guess because of age and taken out discs, and fusion the vertebras. I went down to 176 pounds for along time. Now that I have a hard time moving around I'm getting close to the 190-pound mark. If I get taxed for excess weight my wife will have to feed me to the cats.

You know a couple years ago they decided that cows' emissions ought to be dealt with. They were seriously trying to figure out how to make catalytic converters to control cows belches and farts.
There is no substitute for cubic inches
