I grew up on 50's/60's rock and roll and even I got burned out on it. I agree that every car show seems to think they need to play music of that era so that it "fits in" with old cars.
How about some of the slightly more modern stuff like from ZZ Top, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Steely Dan, etc? There are still some cool tunes from those groups that are not over the top hard rock, but still bring down the house. This has always been one of my favorites from Steely Dan.................. grab a beer and crank up the volume.

or, from Aerosmith.............

or ZZ Top..............

I dont know if they are interested in this but once a year one of the local places hold a car show where they advertise to the local churches and play a lot of upbeat southern gospel and contemporary Christian music, usually a little live music, too. The turnout from the local churches is huge, and lots of people really look foward to it.

I would guess the old list includes some selections from the Beach Boys, but I am not tired of them yet so keep "I get Around" and "Daddy took her T-bird Away". Also "Take it to the Limit" by the Eagles is really good. To honor the California roots of rodding I still like "Hotel California" (Eagles) and "California Dreaming" (Mamas and Pappas). Hey, let's not throw out all the good old stuff! If you want modern, the one disk I play over and over in my Sunfire is the Ace of Base "Its a Beautiful Life" and "I'll never say I'm sorry". The Ace of Base stuff is now considered "old" by college Freshman, but it gets your blood flowing and was favorite music at RAVES a few years ago.

Try some classical music. You'll lose the gear heads, but gain a whole new group of upscale high brows!
Actually some of the others got it right, move into the 60's to 80's stuff. Whole lot of really good music in that period. Like Survivor, Jouney, Reo Speedwagon, Queen, the Cars, etc. People who enjoyed that music are now in their late 20's to early 60's.
Just yesterday I saw a new set of the music from Time Life called Ultimate Rock Ballads. Not cheap at $150, but you get 9 CD's by original artists. Quick way of getting a lot of good music all at one time without losing time shopping. Time-Life also has music from other periods as well. I have some of their 50's Rock and their 50's and 60's country classics.Bob
