...call me soft.... I work in the air conditioning all day, the house is airconditioned, my shop is air conditioned, the daily driver has the a/c on all the time and even the Willys will not leave the garage without the air on.
I will likely have heat stroke if we lose power during the flood.

We don't even have A/C in the house. It's shut it down in the daytime, with fan on, and open all the windows at night, with the fans still on!
The shop actually stays quite cool, as we insulated it with roofing insulation, dry walled it and put in a roof ridge vent. Since it has a cement slab it keeps very comfortable in there all summer long.
Now the truck is something quite special. It has the 1-2.5- 1 vent system, where the 1 stands for the cowl vent, the 2.5 stands for the missing side windows and vent1/4 windows, and the last 1 is how fast I can push it!!!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

That is not so with modern cars or old fastbacks!

No A/C in my daily driver, none in the hot rod mustang, and none will be installed in the Anglia. My wifes jeep is airconditioned you can bet on that. As long as shes taken care of then I am happy (and no shes not looking over my shoulder) At work all day if its 95 outside its 110 inside. Then if it cools down it takes 2 days for the building to cool off.
Live everyday like it were your last, someday it will be.

Flh4spd I'm with you. Nothing like the open road fresh air blast bugs and all to keep yah cool. I go back and forth about using a windshield. It's off 90% of the time, but on whenever I put some major miles on the bike in one day. Nice gal and great dog too!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Of hot summer nights, and Hot Rods
This thread reminded me of some of the most pleasant memories I have of my youth with cars,... I never had A/C in a car until the late 70's (and that wasn't a hot rod) , but I remember those long hot dog days of summer here in Michigan,... and after the day was done, work was over, and the sun started to set,.... you just had to go for a ride.
I would jump in my car, roll all the windows down (with crank handles), and head over to a buddies house, listening to "CKLW The Big 8", or "WKNR Keener 13",.... when I got to my buddies house the heat and humidity of the day would be falling off into a cool night, All of my Buddies and I lived about 5 minutes (If that) from Telegraph Rd., we would brake it down to two guys per car,.... and head up to Telegraph, sometimes Woodward Ave. just to cool off and look for girls.
There were all kinds of cars cursing Telegraph on any given night following a hot day (most of which weren't Hot Rods),..... but the sound of your engine and exhaust ( The smell of burning Sunoco 260),... as well as the sound of other built cars cursing around you was like magic,.... it seemed everyone listened to CKLW or WKNR and the sound echoed through the night,...... did we find girls ? yep, sometimes,..... did we race ? Oh yeah we went to war many times.
Hanging out at Korvetts parking lot, or Top Hat Hamburgers, sometimes the brand new Burger King,..... life was simpler then, and even with Viet Nam going on there didn't seem to be World Wide confusion like there is now, but that could have been just the way it seemed to a young man with a cool Hot Rod and a whole life ahead of him.
I have gone back to Telegraph and even Woodward throughout the years,... sadly it's not the same,..... those days are lost in time and live only in the memories of some of my ol' buddies and myself,. and probably some of you old timers like me.
Sorry about rambling on, just something I felt I had to write out. Next time your out driving around after a hot summer day,... turn off the A/C, roll down the windows, find some good music,..... and try to find that time machine.
Thanks for indulging me on this post. Heres a picture of one of my old horses

When I put a Crown Vic 5.0/AOD in my Rambler, I'll take all the A/C parts too.. and I'll hook up the A/C with a Vintage Air dash unit.. until then I got 4X60 with the 2 auxillary vents ( on kick panals ) and 2 vent windows. You don't know what you've got til it's gone
