Did you feel it?
I'm pretty sympethitic with the folks back in the Midwest but I'm thinking that
the whole West Coast could slide off into the Pacific and never make CNN.

folks are fighting for the very existance in the midwest man .. hopefully things will stay to a low rumble over there and you wont have to go thru what they are dealing with.. best of luck !

hmmmmm... :Looks like the western quarter of Washington State may become an island!!!! When it does, you guys should form a new country, declare war on the US, surrender immediately, and soak up the US rebuilding money!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Yeah,,,,the same thing occurred to me as well. They're not big quakes and many times you don't even feel them....
I guess I should be thankful that we don't get one really big one.
If you look at a topography map you'll see that there are several volcano's
all along those string of quakes.
From top to bottom, Mt. Baker, Glacier Peak, Mt Rainier, Mt. St Helen's and Mt Adams are all represented with little micro quake squares.
The volcano's continue down the coast into Oregon with Mt. Hood, Mt Jefferson,
Three Sisters, Newberry Caldera and Crater lake.
I won't even get started on California.
I guess we've been pretty lucky so far.
I guess I'm still a little bit shocked after our December Hurricane. Yup, we had sustained Hurricane Force winds on the Washington Coast that did huge damage but it never really made the news.
I measured winds from 80 to 100 mph for a period of 20 hours that evening.
Tillamook Oregon coastal areas clocked 136 mph winds and some places even higher. We had buildings all over the area that were just flattened.
The flooding was horrible. One of our neighbors lost 130 head of cattle. Several of our neighbors had to camp on top of the dyke in their RV.
Never even made the news except some of the local stations.
We were a little luckier. We didn't have power for 7 days and had to bathe in river water. We put a horse trough in the back of a pickup and hauled water from the river. We were unable to leave our ranch to buy food for almost 5 days. Even if we could have left, it wouldn't have done much good. There was no power county wide. No grocery stores and no gas stations in operation.
The power company did a bang up job removing the 80+ down trees blocking our access road. I guess it could have been worse. We didn't have to fight quite as hard for our lives as some....
I guess my post is just more of a rant than anything else.....I feel a bit better now....LOL.

Hmmm, thought I felt one that lasted about two seconds a couple weeks ago................, would be one of those just west of the W on the map.
Well, every day I can see it we look at Rainier, hope it doesn't pull a Mt. St. Helens....................that was a pain for awhile.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

Those not familiar with the topography up this way may not realize that the north/south line those little boxes on the map follows it pretty much along the base of the Cascade Mountain Range, Rainier being just one peak of many. We were taught as youngin's that it was earthquake activity and tectonic plate shift that formed these mountains. Well now we know it was human caused global warming way back when; http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache...lnk&cd=1&gl=us
That big ol' sun and it's gravitation pull must be irrelevant!
Just another observation, lots of little quakes as dogtags map indicates is probably a good thing. It would indicate that the faults are relieving pressure gradually rather than holding tough to give it a BIG shake...............well, that's what we hope anyway!!Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Bottom of the channel would be a bummer, but might be balanced out by the ocean front property in Vegas.......Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
