    2nd Amendment Affirmed

This may not be an issue important to many of you, but in general it is important to us as a whole. The United States Supreme Court today affirmed the 2nd Amendment that provides that we as citizens of the United States have the right to keep and bear arms.

This could be one of the most important opinions of my life time. It doesn't prohibit all gun control laws or regulations, but it does prevent any government body from totally eliminating our right to own a gun.

Considering the number of times the USSC has screwed up by reducing the rights of the people, it is good to see they have gotten something important right for a change.

"the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Yes indeed, they finally got something right for a change.

They had a segment on Nightline last night where in Virginia people could have an open weapon. They had them holstered with devices so someone could not just come up and pull the gun from the holster. After the ruling today I saw where they are going to contest states that have taken that right away. I have a gun permit but can't take it out of the state I live in, that doesn't make sense to me. IMO if you are legal in your state you should be legal to carry it from one state to another state.

I'm not a "gun nut" whatever that is, but I do own a couple of pistols for self defense.....one at home and one at the shop. I was happy to see that the Supreme Court overturned that stupid law that DC has had in effect where you couldn't even have a gun in your own home.

Would it be a safer world if every single gun were eliminated? I doubt it. People still stab each other every day, and find other ways to harm others. Plus, the old adage "if they make guns illegal only the criminals will be armed" is absolutely true. Just a few nights ago I was watching TV and heard 6 rapid shots outside. Dan was sleeping and came running out asking what that was, by then I was on the phone to 911. About 10 cop cars show up, and in the end no one was arrested because of conflicting stories among the perps. The cops told our security guard that unless they have someone hit or dead all they could have gotten them for was discharging a weapon in public!

That is why I keep a loaded pistol next to my bed, and will continue to do so the rest of my life.

This is a monumental decision but I'm sure it will not deter the anti-gun groups.

my husband has a carrying permit. He is also allowed to purchase as many in a month as he likes. I was not much into guns when we got married. The first thing that he did was to make sure that I had the NRA training. He also found me a rifle that I am comfortable with to shoot anytime. I leave the guns to him. He leaves the cars to me. Whenever we get a chance we load up the muscle car with the shotguns and take the kids to a skeet shoot. perfect relationship.

Don, you are so right we hear all the time where someone in Chicago was beaten to death with a baseball bat. A person who wants to commit a crime doesn’t have to have a gun. Remember the guy in New York that shot a couple thugs that had sharpened screw drivers as weapons, When they tried to use them on the wrong guy {Getts} I believe was his last name.

I don't think I am a gun nut, but I do feel as an American, people have a right to choose for them self if they want to own one or not. Just remember: A gun cannot pull its own trigger. And if you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns.
