May lose a good friend tonight.
I know this has nothing to do with cars, but I know there are a lot of pet lovers on here, some who have lost them, so I hope no one minds me posting this.
I just gave Scooter her night dose of medicine, and I don't think she is going to make it through the night. I called the Vet and talked it over with him, and it probably won't so any good to take her to them, she is just too old and her time is up. She is totally unresponsive right now, and I think her systems are just shutting down. I've made the decision to just let her pass peacefully, as she seems to be in no pain at all.
Obviously, I am not having a good day right now and am pretty broken up. I've been dreading this day for a long time, she has been with me for about 15 years, and is like a Kid to me. She looks intimidating because of her size, but doesn't have a mean bone in her body. I used to get a kick out of her when I lived with my Ex-Girl friend, who owns a Shitsu. Scooter would lay in the middle of the hallway and block it so the dog couldn't get by. He would be jumping around all nervous because she would bat him when he tried to get past. She is declawed, so it was only a half hearted swat, and I think they both enjoyed the game.
I'm pretty upset over this, but at least I don't think I will have to make the decision to have her put to sleep.........that is a terrible decision to have to make. She also enjoyed her life right up until two days ago, and would steal my chair at the shop as soon as I got up. I'm going to miss her a lot. Sniffy will too, they have been together for the whole 15 years.

Thanks Ken, I know you are sincere. I don't have a lot of words either, and I realize she is just a pet, but I feel horrible..........can't stop thinking about it. I'm like you, I am not good with death, funerals, and stuff like that.
It is some consolation that she had a great life, much better than some of the poor strays that run around loose. But I can remember the day Don and I went to the shelter and adopted her and the ride home. Don had broken his foot and we got Scooter to cheer him up plus give Sniffy a companion. Time sure does fly by............

Don....Sorry to here about your Scooter. No need to be embarrassed about the posting. We are all friends here, and any hurt you have makes as feel bad, also. Have had a couple pets that passed on, and as much as we hate to admit it sometimes, we get attached to them almost as much as kids. Had a parakeet once that flew into a ceiling fan. My wife was so attached to her, that we spent $350 trying to heal it up. Didn't work, but it's hard to give up. Hang tough!Leo Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the RODS that take your breath away.

15 years is good, I can't manage to get more than a couple years out of a cat. Sorry your time with this one is up.

....Don I'm sorry to hear about Scooter. I know losing a pet kitty {to me} is just like losing a best friend/family member. I know how you feel & it's not a good feeling. I have a little {well actually she's fat, but I call her little} kitty named Zoey now & I'm dreading the day when she passes. I say I dread it cuz I remember when I lost my past kitty's; Baby, Salem & Tiger. And then there was Annie, Sadie & Tommy who my ex owned {amongst others}. Plus the Ex's Doggies; Jep, Misha & Poppie.... I remember when I had Baby it was in the 80's when 'Married With Children' first came on. Did you see the episode where Buck {their Dog} got a credit card? Well, I didn't want Baby to be jealious so I had him added to one of my cards! Yep he had a card that said 'Baby Rogers' on it. I then went through some troubling times and was months late on my cards & one time the bank called and asked for 'Baby Rogers'!!! {It was a joke thing. My GF & I & two other couples used to get together once a week & watch the new Married with Children episodes. So i got it to show them that if it was good enough for Buck Bundy, it was good enough for Baby!!! And yes, the bank really DID call & ask for Baby!!!}. Then he disapeared one time for 3 days so I made him an inside kitty & built him a 200 sq. ft. run that was attached to my bedroom. His run was bigger than any of the rooms in the house!!!..... Again, I'm sorry to hear about Scooter, it's a tough one, for sure.... May God Bless You & carry you through these troubled times Don...... Bill

Sorry to hear that, Don. I've always had cats; in fact one of my cats I have now is named Scooter. They are like people; they're so smart and have their own personalities. She was lucky to have an owner that took such good care of her all those years. We'll keep you in our prayers this week.

Don,
I am truly sorry to hear about Scooter. I had cats for year - until my wife developed allergies. We have had as many as 10 at one time and when each passed on, it was like one of our kids. I have to be satisfied when I visit daughter Kim that both of her cats seem to find my lap for a snooze (along with her monster 90+ pound Bernese Swiss mountain dog)
If she doesn't make it - get another as soon as you are comfortable with a stranger in your midst - it wont be for long.Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Very sorry to hear of this-we had to put down our "Family" member about two Months ago-her name was "Pia" (Pain-in-the-A, she was also a Cat, and she owned us for 17 Years-close to the end she just wasn't herself, and although I miss my friend, I now know it was the right decision-at the time it sure didn't seem like it-time heals, but it was very difficult then-all you can do is try and remember the good times-stay positive-Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
