Fastest/Quickest production vehicle 1979
I've been searching the internet without any luck so far so I figured I ask. Does anyone happen to know what American production car/truck was the quickest and or fastest in 1979?????I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

I would say Them Dodge Little Red Wagons with the 360 Engine . Next an L-82 Corvette with a 4-Speed . The Pontiac Trans Am with the T/A-6.6 400 4-Speed ran High 14s Also .

Chrysler officially only claims the title for 1978 with their Lil Red Express trucks.....which is what got me wondering who had it in 79.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

I am guessing...but it might have been the Buick Gran National, with the turbo V6.

Ooops! "Regal".
I tried Googling for a result, and found that "fastest" can mean 0-60...1/4 mile....or top speed.
Which is more important to you? (I bet it's 1/4 mile.)
The Italians seem to dominate top speed overall.

1979 was probably the sorriest year for any kind of performance. I don't think fastest applies to anything made during that period.

Here is an enthusiast quote I found:
"Your Chrysler 300 had the same engine as the Dodge Lil' Red Express truck, which believe it or not was the fastest production vehicle for 1979."

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
