That speaks volumes about whats wrong with kids these days, some kids anyway.....
My 17 year old decided he had to have an old car, so he got a '67 El Camino. It has no stereo and he won't spend the money on one until he has it looking and running to his satisfaction.
And right now it has a 327 with long tube headers, and a not so big Holley
Although, he really wants to trade me for my truck.......Short tube headers, no Holley.......and a boom boom stereo.......

I am always thinking how someday I will be bragging to my grandkid, "that I used to own a 94 honda civic, I was so stupid to have sold that car..."

I've seen a number of younger ones that are already tired of their boom box on wheels and looking at Hot Rods. Heck, just like most kids when I was young, most are just doing the ricer thing because of peer pressure..... Want to give them a reason to break away from peer pressure??? Let them hang out in your shop or garage for awhile, or better yet, give them a ride in a REAL hot rod..... Eventually when their own preferences outweigh peer pressure, they'll remember!!!!!

I would also like to add to the list--

    Gasser...

That may be true of some of today's youth but not all.

The first thing my daughter (20) wanted for her "new" '68 Galaxie 500 Fastback was an Edelbrock carb/intake and dual exhaust. She helped her old dad install the carb, intake manifold, electronic ignition, headers, dual exhaust and flowmasters last summer. And she is not alone, there are plenty of young adults around that are into old cars and what makes them run.

Every classic car show I attend and most weekends at the track there is a very large amount of 16 to 30 year olds.

Unfortunately the nasty and noisy minority often get all the attention, rather than the well mannered and hard working majority.

I think this is happening world wide, most of the young people down here in NZ who are into the hotrodding circles are second generation hotrodders, been brought up around it,so thankfully, will keep up the "family tradition".

Quite agree.....we've just got back from the Palmerston North Swap Meet, and I was truly surprised at the numbers of young people that were there.

Lamin8r....saw your truck, didn't see you, where were you, outside having a smoke?

    (Robin doesn't smoke.)

Saw you at one time Johnboy, was at our stand, six feet behind the truck most of the time, escaped once or twice to look at things and talk to customers..

I used to smoke, stopped some years back, still paying for it,but feel better.
