    Where is Deer Lodge, Tn?

    Hi every one!

They just got done hooking up our DSL, I set up an E-mail, and logged on here. Ahhhhhhh!
It's been a long and crazy time we have been going through, but we're here now. I just got my 2nd set of chigger bites on top of the 1st ones I got last week, was hundreds of bites, now it's double that! I ITCH !!! The yard hadn't been cut when we moved in and was a little higher than your knees, 4 of the 6.25 acres.

To get to Deer Lodge you go west out of Knoxville through Oak Ridge, then North to Wartburg, then zig zag through the moutains to Deer Lodge. Don't blink, it has to get bigger to be a small town! It's 70 miles from Maryville. We drove it 30-40 times to empty our 2 packed to the top 10x30 storage units, with the GMC S-15 pick up we bought. It got 30 mpg loaded. even with a Hemi, 4sp, ford 9" in it! Ok, it was in the back. I put the coupe body on top of the box to get it up here.

We have woods only across the street,(all the trees around here are about 100 ft tall) and to our left (sitting on our front porch), there is a house to our right, our yard behind us with a house way back across our pond, and then we have 2 acres of woods behind that house, (the house was the daughters house to this house) and everything is fenced in. They say if I call, they will come out and stock the pond with fish (blue gill, small mouth bass, & cat fish) and I can fish them after a about 1 1/2 years and they will keep the pond clean from being in it. Cool!
I guess I need to some things done and I'll be back on later, with lots of things about the the move from Minnesota to Mayvillie, and then to Deer Lodge.

Good to hear from yah Pat. Sounds like a real nice spread! Also sounds like plenty of room to work on the coupe! It's nice to be wired in again!

Hmmm. You've been there a whole week, and there wasn't one "ya'll" in your post!! And you call yourself a Southerner!!

Sounds really pretty up there. Around January you will really appreciate moving down a few notches on the latitude scale. Enjoy yourself.

I tell ya, it can really be hard to understand some of them!, I was listening to two guys talking to each other, and they could not understand each other!

No, but I've mastered the finger wave. No not the middle one. everyone waves!
This town is so small, everyone knows everyone We have run into people 40 miles away that knows something about our house. our nearest ATM is 19 miles one way & 16 miles the other. We had to drive 35 miles one way yesterday to go to a Walgreens to get chiggerex for my legs. but that's what we like, its also a dry county, you can't buy alcohol either, you can buy beer, but the county line is 5 - 6 miles (town is 16) down the road along with the time change.

We got a 1800 sf house ranch style, everything is on one level, 3 brs, 3 baths, 26x26x garage, 31x36 work shop with a 11x36 shed built across the back of it, city water and a working well, 6.25 acres with a pond.
There is a 4 point buck & a doe that comes up to us that we feed oat meal cookies to, and let us pet them. We also have a female Peacock that likes to sit on the roof, it sounds like a loud broken squeaky toy!

We stayed at the Alcoa airport Day's Inn! Don't stay there!!!! It was the only place we could stay that took a dog & 2 cats, on a weekly basis! The cops were there every night and we called them twice, we had to stay there 3 1/2 weeks till we could close on the house. We had one in mind from the internet before we left Mn, and looked at it the day after we got here, then but in a offer that day and we ended up with it, but had to sit and wait, to close on it, then we started cleaning and no water!, they came out on Memorial day and put a whole new water line in! , then we started to move everything up here. Whew!
We love it! cell phones won't work for about a 10 mile area, no city!.................... no nothing!, but animals, everywhere But did I tell ya! we have a street light between the house & shop ! It does get dark at night, brite on clear nights, we like to sit on the front porch at 5:00 am and drink coffee and watch the world wake up! Last month we got Dish network, today we got the internet. We wanted to get cable again but they stopped at address 623 ane we're 1240 I don't like dish TV but it's the only TV out here.

Don't remember if that's part of the Great Smokey Mountains or not, but it's beautiful country none the less. FWIW, the chiggers and skeets love me and I've found that a product called Afterbite works pretty well.

No we're in the Cumberland montain plateau, Every direction we go, it's down hill from here, winding 15 mph turnes, and everything is tall green trees.
