But why? I mean it's nice and all but didn't you just make it worth like about 1/4 of what it would be with something from the original maker?

Who cares what the Gold chainers say?
Also it's only worth what sum 1 else is willin to pay for it>
The v-12 was tired, the 6 webers needed a rebuild, the trans was gettin soft, read about $12-15 k to rebuild all.
cost of conversion was in the $7000 range- sold driveline and new exhaust system for $15000
Hmmm - lets see 1 Ferrari that doesn't need $2500 majors every 5-6000 miles, reliability, faster than a V-12 and about $8000 cash in pocket, don't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
By the way---- What does a well dressed Ferrari wear?
A Bowtie --- of course !Last edited by DA34GUY; 09-23-2008 at 10:19 AM.

DA34GUY.....you are absolutely correct....Ferrari owners are afraid to drive their cars because of the cost of maintenance....you solved the major portion of the problem. The only tidbit is the sound....how to make a SBC sound exotic.
Great work on a beautiful car!

Ok Don, we know it can be done. Now get back in your garage and crank out a few of those 60 day 32''s that you are so adept at putting together.
You're right about being cheaper to build and maintain than replacing the old tired Ferrari v12, but faster? I doubt it, unless you were comparing the fresh v8 to the tired v12. A fresh v12 would be long gone before the v8 even reached the half way point. Don't get me wrong, I like hybrids. I used to have a Healey 3000 with a 327 crammed under the lid. Lots of fun, just a little nose heavy though.Bob

Bob (Mopar34)
I beg to differ with you ---- That V-12 was only 303 cu in with 200 HP, the LT-1 with a Edelbrock Carb conversion puts out right @ 375 HP, also is 250lbs lighter.
they are not a light car like a healy, hittin the scales @ 3200 lbs.
Gotta go--- buildin sum more 32'sWhen I get to where I was goin, I forgot why I went there>
