They told me (with out seeing it) to put in about 50 bass, and about 50 blue gills in (about $65.00 - $100.00 for all of them), they say it will take about 1 1/2 yrs and the fish will clean the water, and then I can fish them after that. If you look at the pic, it's about 3 feet low on water, we are behind on rain here. I'm going to use my well to fill it, if it doesn't rain over the winter.
The deer are not ours, their mother was killed by a car last year before we bought the house, and the neighbors put out food for them, because they were so young, now they are everyones friends! they walk the area and they get cookies and crackers. Everyone around knows about the deer and watch out for them. Our town doesn't have a police station, Mayor, nothing except a fire station, a hotel were no one stays (no people to stay there), and a medical station, a Pack & snack (beer & pizza), and a dump, it needs more to be a town I LIKE IT! Oh, theres is NO building codes! You should see some of the things people live in!
We even have a female Peacock that hangs around our house, it layed eggs in the front yard, we called the owner and he came and got the eggs!

More cookin' n' cannin'
My daughter and her husband have apple and pear trees about 1/2 mile down the road, been pickin' up the "fallout" and feedin' the deer in my backyard, you can allmost set your watch based on their snack time. They dont bother any of the wifes flowers or shrubbery, and our cat loves to watch 'em when they drink from the bird bath ( yeah, I sold my Savage 270.)

Nice pictures of the Deer, and the Peacock. We have been here in the country for almost 14 years we have Deer that get close to the house. We can walk in the yard without them getting scared but that is really something that you can get that close. Right now we have a dozen white head Turkey's picking through the yard. Earlier this year the “Big guy” was here I guess he did his thing and moved on, I don’t see him anymore unless the female’s have him in seclusion!!!!

Roses, grapes and raspberries are these guys favorites. Notice how the plum and apple tress are neatly trimmed to the height of momma deer.

Fond memories as a child growing up in East Tn. mom would always can fruits and vegetables all summer long.
In the winter mom would can sausage for the family to eat from the hogs we raised.
Trivia Question: What was used to seal the jars when you could not purchase lids during WW II?
Answering this could reveal your age.
Pat I am envious of you, don't know if I'll ever make it back to Tn. to live.Don D

Parafin wax is what my grandma used as well. Nobody made plum syrup like her. The combination of flavors of melted butter, plum syrup and pancakes still makes my mouth water. I tried to make syrup like she did when I was a kid, just never could get the recipe right! I sure miss her and her cooking. She also made the best fried chicken I have ever had!" Dave you are right. I wonder how many of the group knew that.
Mom would also put a piece of sack cloth over the top and tie it with a string.

We bought some Parafin wax to melt in mineral oil to coat our butcher block, and wax the drawers in the other house.
Carefull how much you put on your window, we waxed one before we moved, and it would never stay up after that! we had to prop it open.
I like your fawns in your pic, They are fun to watch play.
I'm told the ones in our pic's are only about 1 year old at the most, we moved at the end of May and the bucks antlers were half the size they are now, and he just lost the velvet off them, and now he lets us touch his antlers.
Today we mowed down to the fence along the pond, the grass was over the hood on our Craftsman rider. We found a faucet sticking up out of the ground along the side of the yard, about a 100 feet from the pond, along the top of the fence has black plastic thin wall tubing wired to it, and along the ground, in about 8 pieces, 1 1/4", 1", 3/4" for a total about a couple hundred feet of it! It's on the pond side of the fence hooked to nothing. The faucet maybe hooked to the well, and maybe the tubing is to fill up the pond! I couldn't turn the faucet so I'll check it tomorrow.
Done for today.
I have never heard of guava jam Whats it made from?
Ever have curly pancakes?

A bar of soap works just as well on sticky windows, doors and slides. Another good use for wax is on rusty nuts and bolts, just heat them up a little, not cherry red, touch the wax to it and let it melt a little, leave it to cool til the wax sets up,and then try turning. Hank
