Flatheads
just wondering how many people here are running flatheads in their rides...i would love to have one in my ole' coupe...but...living on the gulf of mexico i don't think you can survive in a car without air-conditioning...we are running around at christmas with short pants and no shirt...but the real summer heat is murder...my truck has no A/C and its horrible in the summer...your dripping wet before you get anywhere...i guess if the car has no top it would be ok...is the cool factor and the sound of the flattie worth it to you?"Behold, what manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called sons of God." 1John3:1

I'm not running one yet, but will be...........I picked up a flathead from another member a little while ago and am going to put it in a modified I plan to build. As for the a/c thing, I would imagine by now some companies are offering bracketry to run a small compressor on them. The HP draw for the compressor would not be terrible, although flatheads don't have a lot to spare. I won't be running a/c.

yea Don...i seen where you picked up one...congrats...i wouldn't put AC on one either...don't wont to draw from that massive 160hp...but would still love to have one myself...would be nice in a roadster or T...but i don't think i could take the heat in the coupe...i envy the west coast guys for their climate...the humidity here is killer"Behold, what manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called sons of God." 1John3:1

I knew I had seen bracketry for a flathead to run A/C. Hot Rod Air has it:
Ford Flathead A/C Brackets
From Hot Rod Air
Bracket allows for the mounting of a GM alternator and Sanden 508 compressor. A single wide groove compressor will be required on all pre 48 passenger car and pre 52 truck engines. 49-53 engines will require the use of a pair of offset water necks (listed below). Brackets allow for stock fan/idler assembly to be used on all 46 and later applications.
37-41 Pass. & Pickup 10-0037
42-48 Pass. & Pickup 10-0042
49-53 Pass. & Pickup 10-0049
Offset Water Neck (49-53 requires 2) 10-3496

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
