Big News! Spokane Dragstrip!
well its big news alright but i sure aint happy with it, they decided to lease ot to bucky austin "the northwest hitter" which is good, but the bad news is we all have to become nhra legal 3/4 or more of the racers will be turned away and when our senior tech guy questioned one of the assoc he said oh well, that doesnt sound real racer friendly!?

Scooter, all of what they require is for your own safety, without compliance, the insurance would likely be staggering. Hank

I would assume that 95% of the strips are NHRA sanctioned. If you want to go drag racing, you might as well be legal for the most popular sanctioning body in the world. Other than IHRA, are there any others?

i think its good, its just i cant afford it haha. but for my times i dont need alot of the stuff the other guys do. ....... yes there was another sanctioning body that was murdered slowly by the people here, our track was the last AHRA sanctioned track in the world, AHRA is no more now. garlits won alot of AHRA world championships. and the ahra let nitro cars run during the nhra nitro ban. 60-61-62. ahra used to be just as important to win as ihra and nhra ive found out from some old timers. im just intimidated by the whole nhra deal. with the wave of a hand every car here has been outclassed. like our fastest guys here are the ones who can barley qualify in seattleLast edited by gassersrule_196; 10-18-2008 at 11:18 PM.

It's good and bad, for saftey good.
What's bad is the young people that street race.
We say if you want to race go to the drag strip.
Now they go there and get turned away.
So where do you think they will end up racing.
Just my opion guys.

about 90% of those guys will be able to run they hardly run anything better then 13's or 14's, it sjsut us "street-strip" guys that will have to bite down, i am glad i am not running 11.49 or quicker like iw as planning on doing id need a few more things not many, i am more worried about alot of people who wont be able to afford stuff. the thing i am really worried about is the usual admission price it was 25 this year what will it be next year 50 to race? the streetracer kids will ahve no problem, its jsut us intermediate guys haha. what really kind of chaps my ass is i was #2 tech inspector and now i am nothing anymore went from glory to the dumpster

Don't think I'd even worry about spending a few more bucks on stuff to be NHRA legal, it's money well invested. The Austin's have been quite successful at most any undertaking, I'd be grateful to see them taking the whole show over. The right promoter can make or break a racing operation. It looks like a nice facility, with some work it could easily be the home for some of the Divisional meets,,, and all the out of town money that comes with it. Which in turn makes the local businesses a lot more eager to listen when guys are coming around looking for sponsorship money and/or freebies to help defray the cost of racing. I'd say the price of the equipment will be more then offset by the good it brings with it... Would be fun to have Bucky and a bunch of his pals show up for some racing, too!!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

If you wanna race bad enough, you'll find a way to come up with the money.... If it was easy and cheap, everybody would be doing it.... Takes a lot of dedication and usually a good bit of sacrifice to be competitive at anything.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

thats what sucks, it was cheap here! a set of 10:1 slugs sounds pretty good right about now.

Well, if you wanna run with the big dogs, you gotta spend the bucks and do the work.... Big thing about running NHRA, your legal and competitive at more then one track, too.....
As for the new pistons, I'd go to a set of 12.5's, run E-85 and have even more fun....!!!!!! Better power with more compression, and if E-85 is available in the area, a lot cheaper then race gas..... $2.38 here today.... AED and a couple other places make the carb conversion parts for it... 106 octane makes room for a lot of timing and a lot of compression, all things a baby mouse will respond well to..... Just some more options for ya!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

No rules against it, I guess.... Occasionally I can visualize the little Bronco II with a straight ax and federwell headers......... but it will probably be a strut front.....lighter and everything is out of the way.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
