    stainless steel ford

This is a 1936 S.S. ford built for and owned by Allegheny Ludlum steel. Only 4 were made and this is the only one running and road worthy. I hate to think what one would cost today!!!!

It sure is a gorgous car!!! If a guy had nothing but time, money, and a complete sheet metal fabrication shop it sure would be a blast to build a body using either aluminum or stainless....Probably nothing as complex as a '36, but maybe a roadster......

Can you imagine the quality of old steel we could have available to work on today, if the manufacturers had simply gone with stainless?

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

stainless is such a " grabby " for like of a better word metal .. i used to bend large dia. stainless tube for space engines and it took special blends of lubricants not to wear out a bend die in no time .. and never try to use stainless steel bolts and nuts without antiseeze .. they weld up sometimes ..
