More to add to the doom and gloom story,
an interesting article predicting that the U.S is no longer going to be the financial stronghold of the worlds economy. One quote from the article,
on a global financial scale: America will no longer be the world's financial regulator."
When asked who would replace the U.S. in regulating world markets, he said: "Two countries could assume this role: China, with its vast reserves, and Russia, which could play the role of a regulator in Eurasia."

Just remember....this is an old adversary, who would like to see us suffer the same fate they did. I would not put too much faith in their opinion.
I think our country will struggle...evaluate...restructure in the relevant areas....and bounce back.
The biggest problems are the imbalance in wages, and overconsuming, as compared to the rest of the world. We got away with it, until far cheaper labor drove manufacturing and other businesses out of the country.
In the future....hopefully not tooooo distant....the world will be on a more equal footing. It will take a while, and won't be easy. We need to develop more manufaturing...probably of new products.
"Do-it-yourself" hot rodding is coming back....and not just for younger enthusiasts who don't have a choice. It will include some older builders who no longer have a choice!

I have been busy with visiting family over the holiday but I looked at the video last night and my impression is that the ring of the metal "Amero" sounded like aluminum to me. A coin of gold, silver or nickel alloy would have more of a "thud" sound or a lower frequency ring to it. Just a guess, but it looks like a hoax to me feeding on a very real problem of devaluation, but I hope not all the way to a North American "Amero".

The "Amero" shown was a fake made by a distribution company. Somewhat akin to a Mardi gras dubloon. Anodised Aluminum. To be real gold, Manufacture of the necessary amount to cover the alleged China shipment would have used up all the gold that is in vaults around the world. That amount would be some 1.7 trillion dollars worth at 1000 dollars an oz. or some 900B at current market. Gold would have to be at over 2000$ an oz just to have enough to cover this years debt.theres no foo like an old foo

No, I don't. If an Amero shows up it will be a worthless fiat paper currency just like we have now. Just new and improved. Whazizname was claiming the amero he had was gold.
Just had a thought. Do you suppose it is called a Fiat currency because it just struggles along and can crumble in a heap without any warning and is basicly worthless?
Now we can say we're back on topic cause we talked about cars?Last edited by 61bone; 12-02-2008 at 04:06 PM.

The video never said the coins were gold, The video said you should exchange you dollars for gold before the Amero takes over. If that ever even happens at all.
