Just when you think it’s cold and things are tough, the power goes off. Thursday night we went to the grandkids Christmas play. The roads were covered with ice, and it was cold we had planned to have one of the grandkids come over for the weekend. Friday morning I was hearing what I thought was ice, and snow falling from the roof. I got up early and could not believe what I was seeing. Trees had fallen down from the weight of the snow, and ice. I wanted to move a couple of cars that were under some heavy branches; I didn’t want to take a chance on the roof’s caving in.
Richard that sounds pretty bad. How did the new tree fort/car port do?
I'm greatfull that all we get is rain, rain and more rain. It still seems to kill the power every other year or so. We definately need a small generator to run things like the furnace, fridge and on demand water heater. The stoves gas so we are good there! I wanted to get one this year, but just couldn't seem to do the 500.00 price tag! I wanted one with a Honda engine, that will work when ever wherever! My neighbor bought two less expensive types on line, but both arrived damaged, niether would start. His son in law bought one from the autozone, it too never worked, some voltage regulator problem, when it comes to needing it, I just want a good quality generator!
Sorry to hear about your troubles but sounds like you guys came thru ok! About 7 or 8 years ago we lost power for 5 days, since then we have kerosine lamps, and coleman stoves etc.., just need the generator!

You must have done something wrong Richard. I put in a back-up gen two years ago because we were getting 5-7 day power outages every second or third winter. As often happens, now that I'm prepared the outages aren't happening. Whatever it takes I guess.

Steve, I didn’t get to finish the tree house/carport yet but one car was safe. I had two others sitting under the trees, and got concerned. I was able to move them to a safe area.
It could have been a lot worst; some people have been without power for weeks. That would really be tough. We were lucky it was just for a couple of days.

I really like the sears generator that we bought last year under different conditions, extreme heat. We were able to get a window air unit hooked up plus we had a lot of berries in the freezer. I waited along time before buying one but I'm happy I got a good one. They really take a work out running constantly.

I’m like Bob, if I plan things out they usually don’t happen but since I had the generator a good distance away it figured I would need it.

The heat is number one then everything else is just a bonus when it’s so cold, I’m betting there are a lot of broken pipes since it was so cold for so long.

We take for granted the electricity, and complain about the high cost but feeding the generator puts that thought to rest. I’m happy gas was not $4 a gallon when we lost power.

    Richard
