I did the same, maybe if she gets enough emails it will have an impact but I doubt it.

Last summer when the price of scrap steel went way up, lots of cars made it to the recyclers..... It takes old iron to build new iron, or at least it makes it more economical. Unfortunately, the majority of recycled iron goes overseas. The "problem" (if it is one) is a bit more complex then adding a few bucks to the price of scrap.... Crushing cars is just another industry.... If you're worried about saving the vintage tin, start buying up the stuff you like.... This isn't the first time congress got involved in recycling, Lady Bird Johnson accomplished the same thing with her beautify America program in the late 60's.

I don't see where this or any other such program is going to do much more then get a lot of Caviliers, Tempos, and all the rest of the old worthless junk reprocessed into something usable. The bigger issue would be to address the fact that most of this, along with jobs, is being sent overseas....

I think if u read the original post this is a effort by Summit racing. They see it as cutting into their bottom line if there are no Caviliers to by chrome valve covers for. Be careful of filing lockstep behind some one using SEMA as a call to arm banner. This appears to be a voluntary cash for clunkers. If grandma wants to trade her 88 newyorker for 250.00 and a canopener she should be able to. Having more options cant be bad. I dont think there are going to be many 40 ford coupes crushed. Also please keep politics off the board it makes everything smell like well uknow.

    just my 2 cents
