Okay Bart.............why did they name it dirt anyway!!!
You must have some pull at the SS dept. My birthday was almost a month ago and they tell me I won't see the first check til about this time NEXT month.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

Happy Birthday! Not sure how the temp response landed on your birthday, must be losing it! Happy retirement too! Actually I read the hit 65 today and thought it was a temperature post. Before I read the thread got called to help with the Christmas tree disposal, then came back and typed in the local temp! Now I know I'm losing it!
Again happy birthday!Last edited by stovens; 01-10-2009 at 11:11 AM.

Congratulations, I think!!! 65 HUUUUM man now thats a number. Its getting damn close for me as well. You know this aging thing is really kind of funny when you think about it. I will be 64 this year but in truth I don't think I feel all that different "INSIDE" oh I have the genereal pains and such, after 30 years in the Corps some parts seem to need a little more time to get the blood to pumping than others but all in all I wonder were the years went. The one big surprise every morning is when I look in the mirror and wonder just who in the hell is that Old Man looking back at me.
Have a good day man and don't look in that mirror--- At Least not today.
RolandProtected people will never know or understand the intensity life can be lived at. To do that you must complettly and totally understand the meaning of the word "DUCK"

Thanks Guys. Dave, yes I do have some pull in the SS Dept. as my sister in law works there. Get my check 4 days after turning 65. Roland, I know what you mean. Where I screwed up my body even though I was only in my early to mid 20's was boxing. I boxed for two and a half yearsprofessionally and did my shoulders and hands some damage that never recovered. Then on top of that bad back, knees etc. but as the say ing goes,"I'm still here and doing what i've done all my life" so that ain't to bad at all. My grandmother lived to 101, my grandfather 91, and my Mom just turned 90 so maybe the saying that you inherit your genes from your family members must have some truth behind it.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Happy 65th to you. It's just a number, I remember a time in my life when I thought 40 was old. My 30th was my most depressing because I was no longer "young."
George Burns summed it up. Someone once said to him "Who the h*** would want to live to be 100??" His answer " A guy who is 99."
Have a piece of cake for us, Happy Birthday.
