Well I knew it was too good to be true....not over yet, but going south in a hurry......My gf's brother now wants to just give me the phone number of the parents of the people who left it behind and work something out with them... Yeah, Im sure they're gonna just give it to me.....Its a nice ride and all, and for free, hell yeah I'll take it....but it's really not my favorite so Im not gonna pay a lot for it.....Im going to persue it to the end though and Ill keep ya'll posted. In hind sight, I probably shoulda waited to make this post, but damn, I had to tell someone!!!!!Trust everyone once. Just be cautious of what may be lost.

If they left it at a foreclosure house their options are limited and they don't value it too much..Good news would be that you would get the right title and not have to deal with all the BS of going thru that..You still could be in real good shape on this deal..It's not like too many folks know about this car(except on here)I remember when hot rods were all home made.

1. Call the parents. Tell them you are part of the "clean up crew" that needs to know where the car can be delivered.....like the parents' address.
2. Tell them you can give them a quote on the pickup and delivery of the car.
3. Tell them that it will be much more difficult without the wheels and tires and the price will be lower if they have the wheels/tires.
4. By then, they will tell you that they will have to call you back.
5. When they call back (or when you call them again to pressure them), ask them if they really "want" the car.
6. IF they answer no, tell them you can haul the car away if they can produce a title.
7. Tell them that hauling the car away will be at "no charge" to them if the title can be found (of course, if the title is lost, the haul is no charge if they do a bill of sale)
8. They dont want the car anyway but if you bluff well, you may get both the title and the assurance that someone wont come and claim it next month!Last edited by robot; 02-24-2009 at 03:41 PM.

Very Funny Robot - but I don't see you listed under "attorneys" in the Tucson yellow pages..
I'm still laughing my head off. That's gotta be one of the best posts I've seen as far as just plain creative!

Thanks for the compliment, Glenn....or did you call me a lawyer??
Sometimes a good buy involves creating a fictional "situation." You dont have to lie or present yourself as a bank employee.....just let them assume stuff.

T42 sounds like the parents have more interest then the kids who had it . Maybe it was passed down through the family but does sound like they don't want it . If they did it would have been hauled out of there already right. When a real clean up crew comes they won't call anyone . Give em a call and mention that , they will think seriously about it .

Calling the parents will be my last resort....and I had planned on making it sound like Ill be doing them a favor just to haul the POS away for free...But I will involve them only as a last resort.....Im going to talk to the owner of the realty company involved first to see what input he has......belive me, I ve been around long enough to know how to play the game...!!Trust everyone once. Just be cautious of what may be lost.

"ONLY" a DeSoto ??
Good find, the coupes are hard to come by.
They made bunches of 4 doors like I have. If you have ever seen some old movies made in late 40's thru mid 50's, lot of 4 door DeSoto cabs in those movies.
The engine should be a flathead 6 with Fluid Drive tranny.

Hey, I'm old, easy going, and nothing really riles me .
Keep us informed how this comes out for you. I hope it has a happy ending, and you get car, with title, for $0. Car looks to be in very good condition, and all the important parts there.
