Be Careful! There are two categories of extended warranties...those from the auto manufacturer and those from the "other" guys. The other guys have a list that is arm's length long of the things that are not included.....smile in the car?...warranty void. Fart in the car?....no warranty. The warranty writer typically is gone when you need them and the warranty is void at most dealers that are not part of their program.
On the other hand, I have bought the real GM warranty several times. Since newer cars (jap crap included) is designed to last less miles than days of old, the warranty can be a good buy if you plan on keeping the vehicle. I have found that I can take the vehicle to any GM dealer and the warranty is valid. They do not quibble about the repair....and since GM pays the dealer, the dealer isnt reluctant to honor the warranty....like a dealer that has to go beg the "other" guys for his money.

I have had extended warrenties on my Suburban and my Mustang and have had good luck so far. The Mustang has not had any problems, but the suburban blew a trany.
I took it in and they replaced it no questions. And it didn't cost me a dime, but like the other guy said I paid for it all in the first place. I love the Suburban, it's very comfortable, but the GM dealer alway seams to put the screws to me on the price.
I've gotten some great deal's out of the Ford Dealer's though.
I won't buy a foriegn car, and yes I know some of the parts are made in other countries.
For me It's just the American thing to do, And I want to support the American worker's.
But then that just me, I also voted republican. I don't care if it's Politically correct or not. Kurt

those extended warrantys are gravy for the people that sells them. i have been getting cards and calls from people wanting to sell them. it has gotten worse since i bougght an 02 pontiac a couple of months ago they appearently get the names and address from the state title registration. one of the callers wanted to know the make and model of my car and i answered a 1990 yugo. he hung up on me. i really do own a 1990 yugo
