    Vett hood.

Whats the best place to find a good cheap Vett hood.
Want to replace the shorter 72 hood with the longer 76 hood
and do way with the Vacuum operated window wiper door.
Also gonna do away with the Vacuum system on the headlights.
I heard the electric motors in the pontiac firebird will fit.
Anyone else heard about that and what it takes to do it.
    Thanks Kurt

Hey Vara, I can't help with a good hood, I'm still looking for a decent L-88 hood to go on my '79, but if you think it could work for you let me know and maybe we can work something out, it is a stock L-48 long hood. The main reason for this post is to give you the link to the guys who make the headlight conversion kit, http://mcspeed.homestead.com/Our_Products.html check these guys out, I plan on getting this set up because I seriously doubt that I'll have enuff vacuum when I get done with the motor . Good Luck, Tony

Hey Tsansi; Man it's good to hear from some guys from my old stomping ground.
I grew up in Las Vegas, went to Ruby S. Thomas, Willaim E. Orr, and Valley High School.
Lived behind the Boulivard mall, My dad was a Bookie/Sports handi Capper/he also gave all the hotels and race books the sport lines till he died in 84. I managed the food factory on the night shift for years for Anthony & John Spilotro.
I loved working for them they were some great guys I miss them.
John's still around out there but we don't get to talk much anymore.
Everything really changed after Tony and his little brother Michael got murderd.
so I ended up moving to Florida. Anyway I have to check and see how long the hood has to be. I am not sure if that year will fit, how wide is yours. Thanks for the link,
I am going to do some checking and I will get back with you later on today.
    Thanks Tony. Kurt

    Not many of us left.....

Hey Kurt, I thought that I remembered you saying or in your profile or something that you were from Vegas, I was actually raised in a little town by the lake called Overton, out where all the holes are. I remember the boys but didn't really start running around town till I got my licence in '80-'81, little behind the curve. There's not that many native southern Nevadans left seems like. I'll check the measurements on the hood & let you know, I think for the most part most all C-3 hoods are generaly the same with the exception of height & length for the wiper door on the earlier models, but I'll let you know.

There is a kit for converting the headlite servos to late firebird motors.. I'm not sure how the 73 up hood fits the 68-72 fenders, I think theres a glitch there but I'm not sure what it is...If you go over to corvettefurum.com and into the C3 general section you can get all these answers in minutes..I have gotten many answers there myself on My C3,C4s, and my C5

Thanks Daffy; Hey Tony my hood is 44 1/4 wide and 55 1/4 in length from the point of the front of the hood to the center of the back. I think a new one is gonna have to be about 61 or so. Close to that anyway if you know what I mean. Thanks Kurt

I posted that in C3 general...I'm surprised I've not seen that question before...That wiper door is aggrivating, mine doesn't work...I just plumbed my headlite doors yesterday and they are working now...

When I got mine nothing worked.
I have spent about 800 bucks for a shop to fix it,
and they still don't work right.
My wife is saying keep it stock, I said to her do you want to sell it?
She say's no I want to keep it. I then told her you allready burned up
three wiper motor's because the door don't work right.
So I am out over a thousand bucks because of that.
I told her I don't care if it's stock when I turn stuff on I want it to work.
I don't want to be stuck some place in a rain storm because the wiper
motor has burned up again. I've never seen my vett with the headlights
in the down position since I've had it. I want this stuff to work every time.
Then I can trust it to take a cruz once in a while with out breaking down. Kurt

The vacuum stuff on the headlites isn't too bad really.(gen 4 Firebird motors are pretty crappy)..The wiper door is stupid, unfortunately if you want a chrome bumper Stingray you have that..Your idea is petty good, mine already has an L88 hood so I wouldn't want to change that..
