dumb 216 cu./235cu. in. Question !!
I know,I know, they are junk !! but I had a some bad with my 47,
it's a low mileage car and I'm trying to keep it as original as possible.
but I dropped a rod.the motor on it now is a 216 with the (wide) side panel, I have motor off a 52 chev and one off a 53 chev. both have
(narrow ) side panel on them, can I use just the block off one of them and
use my head off of mine ?,will the head bolt right on ?? thanks and hope
someone can help...

Nope! Different block altogether. Use the 235, or find another 216.

My '53 was a standard shift car with the 216. I think the 235 came out that year in Powerglide cars, but I'm not positive. A '52, I believe, is a 216.

both motors that I have are good running motors, got them from friends
that went to different motors, one want with a V8 and the guy went with
a 60s 6 banger ,but as I stated they both have the narrow side panel
below the plugs, my motor has the wide side panel that has holes cut out for
the plugs, thats the only difference I can see,I was hoping to use my head
and use just the block off one of other motors, just to keep it looking original..).how can you tell if it's a 216 or 235 ??)I know this motors will
bolt right on to my cars but it's one of those guy things,I guess
if it don't fit I will have to live with it,
And then a newer model....
