    Room in the Coupe

folks sure musta been small in the 30's...tell me coupe owners...ever tried to get two grown men into your coupe...i usually try to keep my riders to slim women:-) but my last trip home one of my old friends just had to have a ride...we are both pretty big fella's...and i was belly laughing watching him trying to pull his legs in the car...then shoulder to shoulder we had that baby full...of course after slamming it WOT at every stop we made...he said when and if i can ever get out of this little (ugly word) i will never get back in it...LOL...

Any other coupe owners had this problem...of course i still love my coupe

Ah heck, lose the coupe and build a '50 Merc... With tinted glass you can have 4 fat chicks in the car with you and nobody will even notice!!!!!!

But you are correct, even the '36 Plymouth sedan I'm building for a customer is going to be a bit cramped in the front for a couple big dudes.....but it's still a way kewl Hot Rod!!!!!

30-31 A coupes are pretty good in the legroom dept if you remove the package shelf.

My 31 on 32 rails roadster has lots of legroom even with the 4" firewall recess.

    I'm 6' tall with 32" inseam fwiw.

The seat has adjustment holes so it can go back 2" more.

The seat is a Soccer Mom mid-90's ChryCo mini-van middle two passenger seat.

Here's a later ChryCo mini-van two passenger seat that's a little thinner on the padding etc., but it's pretty comfortable.

Just to the right of the side door on the enclosed trailer.

Ain't it the truth! The first thing I did to the body when building my A coupe was get rid of the little "shelf" behind the seats so I could push them all the way back against the back of the "cab". That added 3 inches of leg room. It certainly helped, but I'd like to have another 2 inches. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do about the width...

I'm just under 5'10" and 220 lbs. My wife is 5'6" and about average for her height. Back in 2006 we drove the coupe on a 2400 mile loop through the midwest. People are sometimes amazed by that when we tell them. The usual comment is something like "You must really like each other to ride that far shoulder to shoulder!" In a couple of weeks my son and I are going to Billetproof in the coupe. He's just under 6', about 220 lbs, and he's a lot broader shouldered than his mother. I'll let you all know how it goes...

Wait untill you try a 41 Willys coupe. It's at least another inch narrower and with the seats moved back you can only see about 120 deg forward. Looking out the rear windows is for owls only. haha

My son is 250+ and I'm 230 and we are shoulder to shoulder.

I sectioned and narrowed the center floorboard cover for extra foot room. There is barely enough room for the throttle and brake pedal. I don't know where you would put a clutch pedal. When you have size 12 or 13 athletic shoes there just isn't much room left.
