Well.. You guys should be glad to have a gun legally.
Over here in the Netherlands only police and criminals have guns. And a few people who see shooting as a sport. They may only shoot at special shooting places and only after one year training they may buy their own gun. And then they still only may shoot at those special places.
We may not defend ourselves. I don't have a gun simply because I can't get one. I have pepperspray (not allowed) and a baseballbat under my bed. But when I wake up in the middle of the night because there's a criminal in my house, only thing I may do is call the copps.
If I hit him I am criminal.
But it's me or him. So I will hit him hard.
We have too many rules here. Rules protect criminals. It's even so contradictory that a criminal can sue me if ,for exsample, I break his leg.
He then can't work of his broken leg so I should pay him compensation. And worse of all, I will end up in prison for violence.
It's even so contradictory that cops are afraid to use their guns. When a cop shoots someone there will be a big investigation to look if he acted right.
We don't fear cops over here, when I was young I had a moped wich drove very fast (not allowed). So once in a while the police was chasing me. Finally when they got me all they do is give me a ticket. You may shout at them and call them names, no problem. We laugh at them..
I wish we had cops like yours, and I wish I could buy a gun.Last edited by Dutchy; 01-17-2010 at 08:09 AM. Reason: something went wrong in first post

I've carried a sidearm since I was legal age to, that's 27 years now. I carry every day no matter what. I shoot a lot. I have training and I train on my own a lot. I will not be a victim. My family will not be victimized. My children carry as well and they're both women. We are a gun family, have been forever. America is a gun country. The second amendment guarantees us the right to keep and bear arms, it's just that simple. I don't know how people can interpret it any other way. If you are afraid to carry a gun because you don't trust yourself, are afraid of them or just think it's uncivilized, then don't! If you think you're gonna take my guns, you're wrong! If the government outlaws concealed carry or gun ownership I will become an outlaw. Nobody, I repeat, nobody is gonna tell me I can't carry a gun! I will not be a victim, either by a street criminal or a bureaucratic criminal!

In West Virginia they have right to carry . Visiting my brother we went out to Nephews to get the wife to fire one off . Its all done with safety in mind and its 27 Acres .

Now in August of 2008 My daughter was beaten by her drugged up boyfriend Cracking her for head , eye socket and crushing her nose and nasal cavities , It took surgeons almost 6 hours of reconstructive surgery to get her back . A 1/4 inch more movement of bone fragment my daughter would not be alive today ,he got a measly 3 years and will only serve half . do I have a wish to kill him NO !! absolutely not But has he damaged my home from trying to get in under the influence ,Yes !!! . Do I want a right to live and protect my family from this sort OH HELL YEAH !!!
Me popping a 40 cal at over 25 feet into target my stomach is my tripod . Castle is a gun owner in Indiana where they have License to carry , He is also strictly involved in safety .

Bobby I hear yah. I have no wish to kill anyone, but if it's them or my family, the choice is clear. Here in California, the laws are very restrictive, and certain guns are banned just because the manufacturer didn't submit every model of the same gun for a drop test. Getting a Colt Commander .45 is next to impossible, but here is an irony for you, you can buy a used one that was sold in this state before the gun law changed, and it is legal to own and shoot it. If you bought one in another state, it is illegal. Lots of weird laws here.
I have several handguns that are fun to shoot at the range, or on private property in the country. I have to say, my favorites are the colts, but for shooting and hitting what I'm aiming at, the Glock 23 (.40 cal) is by far the most accurate for me. I still haven't fired the commander, so that might be a premature statement.
On the right to bear arms statement, I think most of us have no problem legally buying and registering our weapons, and find it interesting, that many people I know who were against firearms, that have since had a violent crime perpetrated to them or their family members, have changed their tune.
I'm not a gun happy freak, but feel strongly about the 2nd amendment." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Gun control? This is gun control. My last rapid fire target at the range with my Springfield 1911A1, cal .45 ACP.
Yes, I have a CCW permit. Yes, I carry it. No, I don't debate the issue any more.

Funny deal today about guns, couple friends stopped by the shop on their way home from a gun show... Seems all the BS about the feds taking away all the guns has doubled the price on anything that is semi-auto, and even the old single action pistols seemed to have gone up in price about 30%!!!!!! No wonder all the big gun shops keep up all the scare ads, sounds like it's good for business!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave,
That has been true for a couple of years, but I think it's temporary. The last gun show I went to was mostly full of tables trying to sell knives, beef jerky, and WWII militaria. The fear of Barry O and his friends has pretty much gone away, and demand has dropped off severely. The dealers I know say that the boom (pun intended) is pretty much over.Jack

Ammo is still an issue though ...... seems everyone (incl. me) has stock piled is just in case.
I too have seen AK's & AR prices back down to normal ......
Seems pocket .380's & 9mm are all the rage right now. Glad I got in prior to the craze.
I keep a Micro Desert Eagle in my pocket at ALL times. Wife carries a Ruger LCP.
Times ...... they are a chang'n.

Man, if I lived someplace where I had to carry a gun everywhere I went.....I'd move....
I've got lots of guns, all locked up in a gun vault. That's where they stay unless it's target shooting time. Don't even bother hunting anymore, too many idiots out there carrying guns during hunting season. Good time to stay in the shop.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Well Dave ..... lots of disgruntled people in the country right now ..... maybe even in SD. I've always though that the better to have and not need vs. to need & not have was a very pro active way of looking at things versus having to move.
Hell ....... I'd love to move out that way ...... just can't do the cold, snow & long drives to the stores.
But hell ...... that's what make this country of ours sooooooo great - diversity.
Keep them guns locked up .... we're probably all better off.

Nawww, to me it just wouldn't be worth it.... No job or lifestyle could ever be so important that I thought I would have to be ready to shoot somebody just to keep it all..... I did the gun thing in the military for four years, didn't see it make any part of my life better then and I doubt it would now.. Just got to be a better way, isn't there?????
I mean, guns are kewl, love em!!! Love to go out and blow up targets with them!!! We used to go out in western SD and shoot prarie dogs for huge wagers, sometimes as much as a nickel a prarie dog.... Got to be too many idiots out there with guns that had a lot more range then there brains did, so I gave that up.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
