Hot Rod Capenters
Brian's thread got me to thinkin'. There's a guy down the street from me that use to race a camaro. As he got older he gave it up and got into carpentry. Mostly cabinetry & furniture. I was just wondering how many on this site also to some carpentry in addition to hot rodding?
I do a little, I'll post when I can scrape a few pics. together."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

Don't really know much about carpentry, but I have been playing around for years making furniture. Got started by building a shooting box for my Buffalo Guns and one thing lead to another.

I play with wooden blocks sometimes.....does that count????? My Dad was a very good carpenter, had his own company for 50 years....Fired me when I was 16, told me I should consider a different line of work.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Paid for most of college, working as a carpenter during my summers off. Took up wood working to do something with my hands while taking all those science courses. Built my wife a pencil post bed as my first wood working project. It paid off when we built the addition to our house a few years ago. Worked as a crew member on it 5 days a week for nine months. Woods more forgiving than steel. Wish I had half the tallent I have building stuff out of wood when it comes to building any metal stuff!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

I've been known to swing a hammer at a nail from time to time; actually, I do more woodsmithing than I do metalsmithing. I am equally adept at picking up a wrench and a bolt, or a hammer and some nails, and my tool inventory includes more woodworking power tools than exclusively metal related.

I also do carpentry for a living. It's somewhat like cabinet work, just not as creative. I can definately appreciate a good piece of work, but like you said hotroddaddy, its hard to make a hobby out of woodwork when you do it 50-60 hours a week.

This is an addition I put on our house about 10 years ago. I started on it in the spring & just got it closed up before the snow hit. Actually got an early snow on the roof before I had the shingling done. That's working nights & weekends. That was a long summer.
This was landscaping later
