1.Have you ever pulled over beside the road and filled your radiator using water from a nearby creek or river?

2.Have you ever put something other than motor oil in your crankcase because it was available (or increased the oil pressure)?

3.Have you ever used kerosene in the radiator in the winter time instead of antifreeze?

4.Have you ever driven a car with no brakes (for more than a day) by downshifting and using the emergency brake to stop?

5.Have you ever crimped a brake line with vise grips because one wheel cylinder was leaking?

6.Have you ever driven your vehicle for more than one day by shifting without the clutch because the clutch was out?

7.Have you ever parked your vehicle on a hill for more than a week so you could roll start it?

Yes on 4, 6, 10 (a very long time ago), 14 (panty hose make a good temporary fan belt), 15, and 18 ('63 Nova...two rods...one through the pan, one through the block....but I hitchhiked home.) :-(

I ran out of gas once. There were no gas stations around for a long way, so I walked to a Target store and bought a gallon of lantern fuel to get me to a gas station. My car was a VW beetle. The lantern fuel had so low an octane rating that the car had pinging at idle.
