Welding helmets lets see 'em
A friend of mine is a really good artist, every time he comes by to visit me at work he always bags on me about my welding helmet. It was from before they made the self darkening ones, but it was what I was used to, for me to flip it up and down seemed pretty natural.
So today he shows up with this brand new electronic self darkening thing with my face painted on it. I like it but haven't used it yet, I don't trust this electric darkening thing yet. So I got thinking I bet you guys have some decorated or painted helmets too. So show them off!

And it looks just like you too!
Both mine are auto, and still have the old flipper but it's covered with LOTS of dust. I like how they work. Neither is worth showing a picture of cause they are box stock boring grey.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

If I put a picture of my helmets up, you'd all know just how many mile I've got on me. I have a riveted fiber fixed lens, a couple of Jacksons, one fixed and one flip window, and a new automatic darkening that I keep in the box 'cause I keep flipping it off my head - I forget that it will lighten up. I am also a bit leery of the auto dark thing, too, no matter how fast it may be. Oh! They are all black/grey, no flashy stuff.

No matter how hard you try, Pat, you'll never get that tube to stick to that pressboard.
Seriously though, that hood with the flying eyeball is tough!
I recently pulled the trigger on a miller auto dark with light and speed adjust. Haven't found need to change the factory settings, but it's nice to have the options. Auto dark are WONDERFUL when you have lots of spot welds to do.
PS.. I like to wear a pair of light tint sunglasses which are UV rated under the hood. That way the light waves which are getting through get reflected..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
