My TV is broken
I went home at lunch and tried to watch the noon news and I don't get a signal. It worked fine yesterday, but not now. Anyone else have a problem?

12:00 tonight is the last time anyone will see a full power analog tv signal in the US..
I put up 1 of the 90 mile antenne's available on Ebay.. full 360* rotation, using coaxle for signal and rotation power.. really small.. replaced a 50 mile ariel antenne and works just as good.. got 1 for my Grandparents and it didn't work at there house so I returned it.. company was slow to refund, but eventully got money back after a monthYou don't know what you've got til it's gone

Or you could pay a rip off price to get Dish that has people that don't know which end to wipe, and have crap for equipment, so that you have to call every month because it quit again (The 1st time it quit was 6hrs after they put it in and were going to charge me $100.00 to fix it! I had to wait a week for a new to be mailed to me!), then have to pay them $5.99 a month so that I don't have pay $100.00 everytime they come out to fix the crap they give you! And you could be like me and have been arguing with them for a year that you DID order HD when you 1st order dish and that you refuse to pay the $100.00 to have it coverted!!!
I HATE DISH NETWORK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you know they own Direct TV dish also?
Damn, and cable ends one mile down the road and they don't think it's coming here for a few years at least!!!!!!!
Here we get only 2 TV chanels one sucks, and you won't like the other either!
OK I feel better now.

If you subscribe to cable, they will give you several converter boxes, vs. paying for them or waiting for the federal coupons that may or may not come!
I say at the extorsion prices they charge, they should come out to our houses and do it for free! In a way a broken tv and computer, would allow me much more time on the truck, but then I'd be stuck when I had a question and no where to go!

The intresting thing is, the converter boxes were only about 15$ beore the feds decided to subsidize it. Then the price shot up to 50-60$!
Sounds like you need one though.
I got one yesterday. Today at noon, the channels switched. I re-scanned the box, to pick them up, and let the scan run. Came back when the wife said it wasn't picking anything up. And it wasn't.. would't show nothin, just a dark screen. After about 5 minues of dinking with it, I was ready to throw the box, both remotes, and the dam TV in the trash, through the front window! Luckily, patience persevered, and I figured out that she had switched the TV to accessory. ( VCR )
Still can't get channel 9 or 38 though..

Unfortunately this is the one set I watch every morning before work for traffic info, guess I won't be doing that no more. All of the other sets are on satellite and/or cable service so they are ok. Over the Air Digital transmissions SUCK. Everything interferes with the signals and the signal strength is less than half that of analog. Even with the digital stations I get, the picture comes and goes.
Only good thing was, that the local station continued to broadcast analog Friday nite so people could watch our local hockey team (Hershey Bears) win the Calder Cup and then watch the Penquins beat the Redwings in the Stanley Cup. Nice way to finish out the analog era.Bob

The funny thing is that I/we have Direct TV but in spite of a lot of channels most of them are pay channels or kids cartoons AND I can't get the local stations unless I use our litle kitchen TV set with a new converter box. The point is that there are different satellites and they are not truly broadband because different satellites cover different channels. I pay extra for the Science Channel and really enjoy that including the NASA stuff. I watched the Hubble repair/upgrade for a whole week! My Direct TV really only gets some news channels, pay movies and Spanish stations. With apologies to JYard Girl I will mention I do enjoy watching Channel 253 on Direct TV which is the Womens Channel with movies where the men are always wrong but at least those movies are free and I enjoy discussing them when watching them with my wife who will watch almost any detective/murder mystery story so we actually do enjoy the 253 channel as a thing to watch together but I have to go to a local station on the converter box for the NASCAR station. Our little kitchen TV with the converter box is really clear because the pixel density is tight and the digital stuf is crisp anyway.
