fun with a TAFC team this weekend
this weekend here in spokane was an NHRA division 6 race full deal all the nhra classes, super gas, super comp, top dragster, TAD & TAFC, comp stock/superstock gt/ma , super pro <track based class) super street, 300 or so cars showed up.
i got hooked up with the SYN-OIL TAFC <top alcohol funny car> team driver is ken webster and crewed with them all of sunday. tearing the clutch and trans out re packing the clutch, draining oil & puke tank, helping on the bottom end for new bearings, fillin it up with alkie n oil, wiping the body down genrally a gopher but you know what you gotta start somewhere.
to make a long story short on top of being no.1 qualifier WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are 1 point down behind brian hough in div.6. man them wallys are neat up close
they asked for my phone number and want me to go with them to the div race in woodburn oregon coming up in a few weeks and maybe even vegas!. this coming weekend is seattle but they had some guys already lined up for that race. but the team owner wanted to be able to get ahold of me. he told me this is how 90% of guys start out in the business is being a gopher and gradually going up from there. . on monday i went back to the track and helped them service the car we tore it down to a shortblock and rebuilt it from them new everything. got to clean up a set of BAE hemi heads and rockstands man them ports are big cleaned the pistons up for em just like i said being a gopher. cleaned the whole car. the crew chief think i am a good worker he made sure and tell the team owner

hahaha no not quite yet jerry. cleaning them BAE heads and rocker stands sure got me thinkin them ports are big i was surprised to learn the cam is not as big as i was thinking it would be.
and boy does that oil come out nasty

oil is nasty because of the alcohol--got to run it so rich, washes down the walls until really gettin with it---nitro is better---plus with dual pumps and such they only run one for fire up and burnout and turn on second as staging
