It's a 107 chassis - made from 1972 to 1989 with several different levels of trim and engine sizes. My guess is late 70's or early 80's as it has the rubber bumpers."Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil

Good eye Glenn. The third eye would make me think that it would possibly 80's on up.
The silver one that's posted here is a '73 with steel wheels, steel bumpers and the ealier wrap around style marker lights give an early 70's appeal.
The 107 series always had a "wrap around" lens, just changed thruogh the years.
The rear lights also have the deep ribs and not the more traditionally later model "smoothed out" looking lenses with less extruded ribs in the face of the lens.
Pin pointing the year can be fun. The list Glenn gave gives a MB enthusiast something to base thier best guess with and I am no expert, I just work on more of them than I than a guy's supposed to.....
I would stick my neck out and place the bronze one at the early 80's and go bug the owner to narrow it down.
By the way, the 4.5 set up scoots very well. Another customer of mine has a '72 280 SEL with the same 4.5 in his and it rocks as hard as the sportier 450's. Gas mileage is not a friend in these series unless you drive like the throttle's broken....Last edited by nitrowarrior; 07-12-2009 at 05:17 PM. Reason: format

It's a Ponton model(W120, W121, W180, W105, W128). The Ponton body style was introduced in 1953 as the successor to the 170 series. It was produced until 1961 when the Fintail took over.
I think this is a 1956 -59 model 180. '56 was unique in the first year of the horizontal crossbars off the grill which went through 1959. The nearly straight up and down grill make me think this is a '59 - but that's a guess..."Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil

Roger on that 450 Nitro. That 4.5 aluminum V8 is still an engineering marvel but man it drank gas ran like grease through a hot tin horn. Fun to drive although kinda heavy - close to 2 tons with fuel driver but still topped out around 140MPH and good for 250K miles easy with regular maintenance and good oil."Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil

My bronze Benz in the top image is a 380 SL, so it is in the early/mid 80's according to the year and model list.
I put the image in the art program and enlarged the work area and found it.Norm Dunne

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
