I miss living on the East coast of Florida, we used to walk out in our backyard and watch them go up. Also went on our boat as close in to the launch pad as the authorities would allow, and that is an indescribable experience. It is like the earth moves or something.

Never seen a launch in person, but have seen it touch down at Edwards AFB many times. Most times within 200 yards of where I was based. Also have seen it ride the 747 piggyback to Florida a few times. That is awesome too. We manufacture the black carbon carbon wing leading edges, tail and nose shell here in Texas where I work.
Enjoy your launch because the shuttles time is almost up. We were told to shut down the manufacturing line in October of this year. Finishing up my career with 3 NASA projects. Space Station was my last one, but that was over 10 yrs ago now.

the company i work for has produced every single nose cone for the booster rockets .. i built several of them myself when i was in the assembly dept. .. we actually ran out of parts on the last one and had to rob a few pieces from the original first article prototype ... these mount on the tip of the booster and house the parachutes that bring the rockets down ..the nose cones then sink to the ocean floor and become coral habitats
iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

The sky was lit up with lighting last night. It has been rescheduled for Early Wednesday 1:10AM. It is a great light show when it launches at night. Quick show, but good.

Yep It's a cool site at night as long as the clouds don't get in the way.
Ain't nothing like feeling the ground shake from it taking off.
I might go over and watch it tonight. Kurt
Thank you Roger. .
