I will never say the 48 team is not the best COT team ever.. That doesn't mean that,as a fan I want to see them win 4 cups in a row. Not that I blame them for winning, I just want to see someone beat them.. They have the boring track set up down pat. Texas is one of the most boring tracks on the circiut. The only way a race has any drama there is if the guys are running out of gas.I remember when hot rods were all home made.

Well with two more semi boring tracks coming up - Phoenix and Homestead, the 'powers' at NA$CAR might as well just give Johnson the trophy now. To make this ridiculous "chase" format a bit more interesting, they should at least have a road circuit included in the 10 race schedule (and a dirt track race as well - yeah right).Dave W

Jimmy has won Phoenix twice but has never won Homestead. Personally I would like to see it come down to a last race shoot out between Martin & Johnson..
As far as no one wanting to see Johnson win. It's the same old thing that I saw at all race tracks over the years,No matter what track, or who the driver, if he was a constant winner, every body hated him no matter how nice a guy he was. Then when he gets to the point of his carreer that he doesn't win, then he's all washed up and has no business on the track. And then when he retires he suddenly becomes a hero and a legend and everybody loves him again.. Go figure........

Well, I think they should keep one of the tracks, heck if nothing else a guy can watch the start, take a nap, watch the finish and really miss nothing.... Us old guys do need our nap time, you know????
I still think they need to take a long, hard look at the new track in Iowa for a Sprint race, do away with 1 of the 1 1/2 mile tracks, and maybe even add a dirt race!!!!! Anything other then a whole flock of 1 1/2 mile tracks.... I do realize they're not all the same and each track takes an entirely different chassis setup.... But if you want to keep the fans, and attract more, better get some new tracks in the schedule someplace!!!! Heck, I wish they still ran Rockingham! that would be a chase track!!!!!!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

OK... Keep Texas and name it the Ambien speedway...Run the sominex 500 there and give the Sealy posturepedic award to the fan who can stay awake the whole race...I remember when hot rods were all home made.

Man, now that is one heck of a promotion plan!!!!! Seriously though, it's exactly what I did Sunday--watched the start (and Jimmy's little wreck), took a nap, woke up and watched Dodge win this year's fuel mileage contest!!!!!! A perfect day!!!!
I dunno, that brand new 7/8 mile track in Iowa sure did have a great ARCA race!!!!!
How about no cubic inch limits, and no tracks longer then a mile unless it's a road course??????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Fan of his or not - he IS good when it comes time for the big trophy and bucks. The geriatric brigade is still working on him tho. And as usual, Little E screws up again and takes out a bunch - twice. How many chances can you get?? And why do the fans still 'adore' him?Dave W

Yeah, old Junior was driving about 1/2 lap ahead of his abilities again.... Was also good to see Jeff Burton up there again!!! One more chance in Homestead...slim but it's still a chance...
That whole 48 car team is so dang good!!! Got to give it to Hendricks, he sure does know how to hire the right people!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Saw an hour of highlights this morning at 6.30...Marcos Ambrose seems to be doing fairly well for himself,,must be hard to get in amongst the NASCAR teams, specially as an Aussie driver...got a plug from the commentator too.
I would like to see some Americans take on the Bathurst 1000,the legendary Mt Panorama, maybe an exchange driver situation...some of your guys having a biff around the Aussie and Kiwi tracks, and vise versa..Micah 6:8

It's hard to get into a top NA$CAR team regardless of who you are. The foreign drivers don't have "credentials" that start with karting at an early age up through local short tracks that can be easily followed by the big owners. There are several non-US drivers racing in the NA$CAR Sprint Cup series, but often just as specialists in road racing. Ambrose was able to hook on with a pretty big team early in the lower series, the Busch, now Nationwide and do fairly well. Now he has a ride with a well funded team and is doing pretty well there as well. Most folks seem to like Ambrose and his driving style and feel he will do pretty well (and he is from Tasmania, not the mainland)
As far as Aussie drivers, there is at least one (who's name esacapes me) competing in the sprint car ranks and doing well.
Now, how 'bout someone from NZ??Dave W

Some of the WOO sprint car guys still go over to Australia in our winter for some racing....Used to be a regular deal, don't know how many go anymore--used to be 4 or 5 every winter....
Then of course there's Grubnic in NHRA, he gets a bit better every seasonYesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

IC2,thanks for the info,,Tasmanian, well, that conjures up a little tale,,its fairly widely known[?]in Aussie, that Tasmanians have two heads, [so I am told],bit of a monster issue or something..but,yes,Ambrose is fairly well liked and a fair driver too..I,among others,am watching his progress with interest,,as far as Kiwis go,you dont want Greg Murphy up there,he is/was a good driver, but has an ATTITUDE,and I for one dont want to see our name besmirched by him.. There are several Kiwis who do the Aussie/Kiwi V8 series who keep the rivalry up between the two countries.
It would be good to see some Kiwis up there, maybe we could trial Scott Dixon in a car with a roof...,
Dave,we have a lot of Americanscome down here for our speedway season, both in sprint cars and the midget cars,in fact is was you guys who got us onto VW engines..Sleepy Tripp was coming down here for years and bringing us fresh drivers to play with,it was quite humbling to here his comments on how he loved coming down here to play in our yard..and we hope you guys continue to come down in the future.
Unfortunately, the main track for the action is 4 1/2 hours away from where we live,so dont get there now..Last edited by lamin8r; 11-18-2009 at 12:19 PM. Reason: additions
