I always wanted to make the trip for the winter, just never got hooked up with the right people....probably because I never did really pursue it, I guess... Still on my list of things I wanna do some day!!!! Heck, maybe I'll find a good site "over there" sometime and post my resume, doubt if anyone would want to hire a crippled up old geezer anyhow!!!!! I've caught a bunch of the races in Australia on the tube, can't remember the class, think it's the one that Ambrose used to run in....anyway, some really great racing!!!!! Any of that around your neighborhood??????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave,we have a small track a couple of hours south of here,Manfeild,a tight little circuit for the V8s,but there have been the odd truck racing days as well,The Taupo circuit is about three and a half hours north, which also incorporates a drag strip on the back straight, and also,we have the Hamilton street circuit which is set up for the Aussie/Kiwi series, tight racing, lots of bruising....Auckland has Pukekohe circuit, has been there for years, all classes of motor racing, thats about four hours north...If ya google those names, have a look, try Bathurst 1000,see what Ambrose has done in the past..AND,,,whose old?I am only three years behind you,,I aint old,[yet]Micah 6:8
If we aren't supposed to have midnight snacks,,,WHY is there a light in the refrigerator???

Well, today is the last one!!!! Jimmy would have to fail miserably to give Mark a shot at the title, but stranger things have happened I guess!!!! Anyway, no matter how the race comes out, Rick Hendrick is the real winner, man, what a season for all his teams!!!! Hate to admit it, but that dang Johnson kid just might have a future in NASCAR.......Last edited by Dave Severson; 11-22-2009 at 01:02 PM.

Well, was a boring race.... But the competition is better then it's ever been and the 48 team wins their 4th consecutive championship.... Gotta respect the kind of talent it takes to do that, no amount of money could just buy it, heck I don't know that Hendrick outspent Roush this year, and they couldn't do it.... Nobody in the history of NASCAR has ever done it.... Gotta respect the talent and dedication it takes to get that done, anyway....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Just wondering out loud guys..Is Jimmie Johnson related to Junior[wes just po'old chicken farmers]Johnson is he?I remember a story in an American hot rod mag about 25 years ago about his operation, building everything at home on the ranch..And while I am here,I watched a half hour of a NASCAR doco last week about the big names and the rise to fame for them,,coldnt stop to watch the whole program, gotta make a dollar or two during the day..Just wondering if it was ever put out on DVD,and if so,is it available in the States??Guarantee no one down here will know what I am talking about..

Nah - Jimmie is a California boy, and from what I can see, no relation except maybe back in the pre history days. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmie_Johnson
EOE NASCAR - I looked on AMAZON.com and not there, at least yet. Since it was a show just for TV, probably never will be a DVD.
Too bad your guy Marcos Ambrose had a bad day with car problems yesterday - he even lead the race for a few laps (then I snoozed in my recliner until the last 50 laps - dull race - and the next time I looked he was 40 laps down) ended up 35th, "only" 63 laps down. http://www.nascar.com/Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Forgot about Amazon..The doco was actually on the ESPN channel, have had a look at the listings, and it was replayed only once,a two hour length,oh well, maybe it will come up again some time, will skip work if I have to,or try to get it recorded..Missed the finale, glad to hear Ambrose had some clear track in front of him for a while at least, will catch the highlights tomorrow.
Thanks,IC2.
Just a thought,,I wonder how the Aussie touring cars would go on your oval tracks..they pull 300km/h down Conrod Straight at Bathurst, would be interesting to see how long they would last at the speeds they do on your tracks..Micah 6:8

Ambrose had a real good run going for quite a spell there, was a shame to see him fall out.... Oh well, they're probably all taking half a day off then starting the prep work for Daytona!!!!! Going to be interesting next year to see what Amrose, the kid in the Home Depot car, Waltrip's new cars, and a whole bunch of others now that they've all seen the tracks a time or two!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

If Waltrip himself would stop driving, give up some of those asinine SPEED Channel programs and tend to business he might have a winning combo. Reutiman is good, but Mikey....... Give his cars to a 'real' driver, it might end up somewhere but a scrap metal dealers crush pile. He is often nothing more then a wreck either still rolling or about to happen
I have a feeling that the Aussie touring cars would not do well on an oval circuit as they don't appear to have the "areo" qualities. If both were on a road circuit, it might be interesting. We had that series on SPEED a couple of years ago, but I haven't seen it lately. Since Oz and NZ are on opposite times of the year, it made for some good Sunday TV afternoons while it stormed here. Maybe again this yearDave W

This was Michael last full season as a cup driver, sounds like he'll run a few cup races, some Nationwide, but that's about it..... Taking the 55 car out of the series and the new car will be #56...can't remember who he said was driving it...just heard the guys name 2 hours ago!!!!! Oh well...Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave, I think that the new driver for the 56 car will be Martin Truex Jr.
If I remember correctly, Jamie McMurray is out of his Rousch ride to go to the #1 car for DEI/Ganassi racing with Bass Pro Shops as the sponsor.
You've not been around here for a while, Charlie, but when you were you had GREAT projects!! Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday Charlie Fisher!
