    Not to happy about it.

My Nephew is an Army Ranger and stationed in Afghanistan. We exchange e mails all the
time but this one really pisses me off.
Same old s**t when I was in the Military.
If we're not suppose to win, why go at all?

    and I quote:

(Things here kinda suck, but nothing I didn't expect or had not done before. I'm back in pretty good shape, I don't smoke as much, and my mind is focused again. It feels good. We have only had 2 exchanges of fire since I have been here, one was pretty intense. You know whats f***ed up though.....?? We retreat all the damn time. I mean it uncle, it is shameful. Just as we begin to gain fire-superiority, we get orders to withdraw. We are not here to win, only to maintain the status quo).

Anyway, I know this Kid and he's not a complainer. He must be pretty confused.

Tell him we're proud for his service. My brother expressed similar stuff in Iraq. We'll keep him in our prayers. Steve

It sucks but it is what it is, POLITICS!!!
When our millatary gets the upper hand, the enemy runs behind a invisable line and they are not allowed to cross it. Sounds like another war our millatary allready fought.

    Go figure!

I hate to see our guys putting there lives on the line when they have to take orders from politicians who probably never served.I know they could kick some serious butt if the soldiers were in charge instead of the idiots who can't even run the country at home.I was in the Army 64-67, used to be a saying" Kill 'em all, and let God sort 'em out!" time to bring it back?? May God keep him and his buddies safe!

Quite frankly I'm amazed we achieve any kind of "superiority". My son-in-law deployed for Afghanistan 4 weeks ago. When he got in country he found that they did not have enough firearms to give him one. He was in country, in harms way, unarmed until they could locate an "extra" M-16 for him. With the money our President is throwing at every other pet project he could at least arm our troops whom he promised to remove. Country is going to hell in a handbasket...among the things I'm thankful for is the fact that I'm getting old and a lot of the Mickey-Mouse BS is behind me. I served from '72 to '80, the last time we lost a lot of young boys for no reason. I was hoping I'd never live to see it again and here we are. Bring back the draft and voters will pay a lot more attention to what is going on when they have a vested interest. I know I'm a mess but I don't blame the Army.....I place the blame where it should go.....marriage!

You are absolutely right bring back the draft, if the people in this Country don't have a LOVED ONE in the Military they don't even no what the HELL is going on!!

Young people in this Country should do a part to maintain their own freedom.

Oh yeah, the draft was great..... The kids with wealthy and influential parents had a deferment bought for them, everybody else got drafted.... The way politicians run things, there would never be a draft with no exemptions....

Until somebody or some group can assume power in this country, it's just going to continue to be DDSS... It should have became obvious after Korea that not every country in the world wants to be force fed democracy!!!!! Bring ALL OUR TROOPS HOME and make this country secure, let the rest of the world take care of itself.....

Well, with unemployment so near to double digits, and all the money the military is giving for school after your enlistment....I doubt there's a whole lot of the new recruits are there to go rah, rah, rah and wave the flag!!!! Look at the other end of the military statistics, retention....that's what will tell you what the active duty types really think about how things are.....

I don't doubt it the way there are not a lot of jobs unless you are highly educated.

Yes Dave, and you made some good points the other day. Bring them home, and I would add to that send the gang bangers to where the fighting is going on they don't have a problem with killing!!

I think when they get them home, they could assign Air Cav to the DEA, whatever that Division of Mountain Warriors is to the Canadian Border, and the entire USMC to the Border Patrol on our Southern border!!!! Betcha them dudes would get stuff straightened out in about a week!!!!!!!
