Adding "signature required" is usually under $2 USPS or UPS good deal for the price and peace of mind.

yea.. if it was my site, or I was responsible, I would have called the delivery conformation proof enough.. seems as tho even if he didn't get it, and it was stolen from his doorstep. after UPS delivered that would not be the sellers fault, nor UPS's and would fall in the hands of house insurance or theft insurance if they had it

Well, regardless of the reasons for losing my spindles and my money, my fault, their fault nobody's fault it doesn't really matter.... If I have to go through a bunch of crap just to make sure I don't get ripped off, I just choose to not do anymore business there....simple as that.... I got along fine getting parts before eBay came to life and I'm sure I will again....just don't need the hassle.

I just shipped things I just sold, and USPS is .70 for confirmation, and you get a tracking number. That's the minimum I send things off with.
I sent a set of Weber carbs to Australia, and took a check, I just don't ship till the money is in my bank! Not the check, the money. I have not been burned, I was given a stolen cashiers check for my '57 Chevy, but I don't ship till the money is in my bank. I now have a $5700.00 check, and the 57 which I sold on ebay. And then I bought a '68 El Camino off ebay, which I also sold on ebay.
I bought my '87 Mustang off Auto Trader .com and was burned, but I only sent a down payment, and when I got there I told him I was not going to pay what he wanted, then drove it home. rebuilt it then sold it later on ebay.
You just need to use comon sence about it, if they can rip you off, some will! I have a 100% postive and I have bought and sold alot on there since they 1st started Ebay, and will keep on doing it.

yea. I got my truck on Ebay, and people are asking about deals off Ebay.. I'll shut down the auction with a nice deposit in my paypal and an agreement to pay what I want for it, and I'll end up making more

Craigslist has done alright for me! Sold a couple things and found some killer deals locally----on used parts especially I still prefer local so that I can go there, do the see, feel, touch thing and know exactly what I'm getting... For mail orders, I pretty much back to Speedway, Sumitt, Jegs, and a few others---bought from all of them for many years and never had any problems with product, returns, credits or anything else. This electronic world is ok I guess....but there are just way too many scams out there I just don't see any reason to take the risk anymore....

Fed ex and ups don't care Dave, Even if it said it needed someone to sign.
I had a go around with both them companies about leaveing stuff on my door step with out some one signing. The VA Hospital has UPS deliveer stuff and they get over booked so they get Fedex to do it for them. They just drop it on the door step and leave.
They tried to blame it on the VA but the VA has it in thier computer that they must have someone sign. But nope three times in a row they dropped Morphine on my door step with no one home. I was in the hospital two of the times.
Now what would have happened if some kid got a hold of it and killed himself.
My names on the bottles, They piss me off, they act like it's no big deal.
They put people in danger and are costing other people money.
I guess good help is hard to find. Kurt

I recently saw a program on TV about Ebay and one segment was about these two guys who bought some $ 1500.00 piece of equipment from a guy who turned out to be an Ebay scammer. Paypal didn't do anything so these two took him to small claims court and the judge threw the book at the guy. They got their judgement and the scammer got a strong scolding.

They may never collect on that judgement, but they at least didn't take it laying down. That is the problem, most people just roll over and don't fight back when this happens.

My lovely wife has an Ebay business. She sells, among other things, books. In fact, she has sold over NINE THOUSAND books.

For the most part she is okay with Ebay and Pay pal. Aw, she has had her squawks with them and a few times she has gotten thoroughly PO'ed at them but they got things worked out.

Like other businesses that ship lots of orders, she is prouder'n hell of her 100% positive feedback record. Maybe the maddest I ever saw her about something (I mean, about something other than me) was the time she got a feedback from some old hen that said "Well, (the product) was as advertised, but I could have gotten it cheaper at Wal-Mart"
so Ebay hit her with a negative feedback. Oh, boy! She was ready to go find a "hit man" to take of the situation. She raised a big enough stink to cause Ebay to give her back her 100% record.

I have used Craig's List for parts and large stuff with no problems. In fact, I have met some good guys when they came to pick things up.

Boy that's the truth! I'm trying to find a retal home and the amount of scammers on Craigslist is just too much! I've found a few homes for a decent price and when I get the address I usually go to public records and sure enough they don't even own the home thats listed. You sure have to stay on your toes!.........CR

And when the guy is 5 states away and the value of the item was $80.00... Just how much time and expense should i go to to take this guy to small claims court???? If it's local, easy to do....1,000 miles away, what do you do??? Can't do a small claims court by mail....Filining fees alone would exceed the items value...and most of the scammers know this....
