Damn ebay
Well I got took again but with all the items I have bought off ebay this is the third I got took on so I guess its not so bad,I thought I was getting a somewhat correct jack for my 37 chevy p/u but its for a latemodel. The pics were dark and I really could not tell so I should of asked for more clearer pics so its partly my fault,I contacted the seller and have not heard back so maybe we will get it cleared up but I know its not worth shipping back.

We've all bought something on Ebay that didn't turn out as described, or that some crooked seller never shipped. But like you most of my experiences have been positive.

The seller is real close to loosing their 100 percent positive feedback over this deal, since I paid with paypal I might have some help but will see if I get a response back from the seller first. I probably paid too much in shipping for it and if I would have to pay the same to ship it back to get 30 dollars I will take a loss and just deal with it.

Ebay
Over the years I have read a lot of complaints, but it all comes down to using common sense.I have a 100% rating also but I always post clear pictures with my ads and promptly answer questions from buyers and always save responses till a deal is completed and feedback is left, always CYA! As a buyer sometimes we want a item so bad we fail to see "red flags" if a picture is not clear,or you ask a question and you get an off the wall answer or it is long in coming, don't bid! and always go back in time on the sellers feedback.I have sent pms to previous buyers to check on their satisfaction after the sale before I buy. Some people place ads for things and they have no clue what they fit so they post it 'cause their buddy says"that's for a '54 Kaiser" when in fact it may be for a '51 Chevy.

I think Ebay is trying to clean up some of their bad press lately by making some changes. One complaint has been that the PayPal protection sucks, but I was just involved in a transaction where they went way beyond and helped a guy out.
In July a boat was towed into our marina broken down. Long story short a young guy bought it on Ebay and was driving it home via water when it crapped out. We diagnosed it and the engine was really shot and the outdrive was starting to develop cracks. The guy told me he bought it on Ebay and had just picked it up. I told him to contact Ebay, but he had only paid $ 500.00 through PayPal as a deposit and gave the guy $ 3300.00 CASH when he picked it up. I figured he was screwed, but wrote him a letter so he could present it to Ebay. In it I outlined that the boat was not in the condition it was advertised at, and that it would take a minimum of $ 10K to make it right.
A few weeks later the guy called me and said PayPals insurance company had cut him a check for the full $ 3800.00 and he even got to keep the boat! He just wanted it gone so he gave it away. I guess all the heat coming down on Ebay from shows like Dateline and 60 Minutes are making them be more responsive.

In this case I got a little over 50 dollars in a jack I could of picked up at the local junkyards for 5 to 20 dollars so its not like I am out big money,I got looking around in the garage and found a old vintage jack that does not have a handle so I will use the folding handle that came with the one in question so at least I can use something from this deal. So far the seller has not contacted me so if I dont hear something in a couple days I will be contacting paypal and see if I can get some of my money back.

My LAST transaction with eBay was a real scam....and it was a buyer scamming me.... Sold him a pair of Mustang spindles, he specified UPS for delivery.... Well, got the delivery confirmation from UPS, the guy swore up and down to Pay Pal that I hadn't sent them to him.... As with many deliveries, nobody was home so UPS left them at the door.... Anyway, Pay Pal gave the clown his money back--taken out of my account, of course.... I did all the shipping stuff by their rules, but the guy was just flat a liar.... Also, he waited til like 2 weeks after his parts were delivered to file his "claim. After a bit of "research" I finally got the guys phone number and called him up to tell him to please either send me my spindles or my money..... He told me "no way, but thanks"!!!!!
Buyer protection is good....but the seller needs a bit of protection, too. Ebay went the other way now... The seller is at fault unless he can prove he isn't.... As with many things I just chose to avoid any further conflicts and moved all my for sale stuff over to Racing Junk and Craigslist....
And, as a "persoanl payback" to eBay and Pay Pal, I still go thru the eBay site to look for killer deals on parts....then I contact the seller--primarily the one's with the "eBay stores", by phone to arrange a deal not involving all the Pay Pal and eBay fees..... So far, not a single seller has declined to make an offline deal...... I've also discovered that once you conclude the deal offline, the shipping rate is usually quite a bit lower....hmmmmm.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I buy and sell.. few weeks ago I got burned on some laptop batteries. bought 3 BN OEM IBM 600 series batteries for the price of 1 aftermarket.. when they got to my house, 2 of the batteries were new, had warranty tags and last over 1hr per charge. there were actully 4 batteries in the box even tho I bought 3... the other 2 batteries were dead flat, obviously used and took no charge. contacted seller and he said he would refund if I sent all of them back at my expense.. no partial refund for the 2 dead batteries.. and I checked the batteries on 2 diffrent 600 series laptops.. but it was still a good deal so I'll dispose of the junk batteries. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I found that out, Matt.... That's how Pay Pal justified taking the money out of my account, no signature from the buyer "proving" that he got it.... Oh well, I'm sure loosing my business was no big deal to them..... Worst thing about all this electronic stuff, when somebody figures out a new system, 10 guys figure ways to work a scam within that system.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
