Anyone painted or built a "Hippie Van"???

    I don't know if it's a "hot rod" ....but I'm sure it's a "custom"!

After 35 years "in da biz", it looks like I will be doing my first "Hippie Van". Anyone out there been involved in doing one? I would like to see what you did, or trade thoughts about the art work.

This project is a really clean late fifties VW van.

Hey Dude, I don't remember that part of my life either. There must be something in old magazines or movies. Did you try google images?

Yes, I also have some times I don't remember ....but that's not really true. It's just that what I remember isn't possible! {:-)

I have been gathering internet van pictures, and images I remember from the era, like album covers and posters.

We want it to be a good combination of things people remember and expect to see, along with referrences to music, places, events, social issues, and noteworthy people ....plus throw in some obscure surprises. :-)~

I'm thinking about starting with a two tone base of "Purple Haze" and "White Satin". LOL!

Kewl!!! My best memories (that I will put on a public forum) of the 60's always center around the music... "pre-war" was the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, and all the good times stuff, "war" was CCR, all the way!!!! my "Post-war" music was The Doors..... Every (coherent ) memory I have of people and events in the 60's has a song to go with it.....

This should be fun, as this guy ...unlike most customers ...wants to get pretty extreme. :-)

Here's a nice one I found on the net:

As I am researching ideas, I am finding there is far more that was done than will fit on one van.

I am making a running list of ideas for him to check off. We may also do some of the details in sign painters enamel after it is cleared, which could make the personal referrences, and the politically and socially objectionable things removeable. :-)
