Die-Cast Cars
Hi, just wondering if anybody else collects these things. Since I can't afford some of the real cars I've been picking up some cars from the Danbury Mint's collection this year. They seem to have some good quality cars and the price seems reasonable.
Are there other Die-Cast makers out there that are as good/better as the Danbury Mint?

My cars are not very much money my Dad bought a 65 SS 396 new when I was in the Army. When I would come home on leave I would park my 57 Chevy and take the SS 396. I had a 60 and 61 Corvette in 68 so this is what I can afford today it's a 57. I like the Tuckers so my wife bought this one. I have had several but the grandson's would take the wheels off. Like I did to my 57 Chevy taking the bullets out and pitching them. The 65 and 57 Vette are Welly, not too bad for sitting on a shelf.

I had to force myself to stop buying the Danbury mint cars due to having to many to display properly,I have plenty of Hotwheels and older Matchbox cars too plus some from other manufactures.

Highway 61 makes some really well-detailed cars. I have two different versions of their '29 hiboy roadster; one is a gloss black street version with flathead, the other is a flat black lakes roadster with a hopped up 4-banger. They are detailed down to the valve stems on the wheels and the lakes roadster has salt spray on the body and tires! They also came in display-ready cases. If you like Indy cars, Carousel 1 makes nice stuff. I have some of their old Indy roadsters - nice! I also collect some Hot Wheels. I only collect hotrods and muscle cars - the realistic ones, not the cartoonish stuff.Jim

Richard, cool collection ya got there. I have a little neighbor kid that just always wants to mess around with mine but I tell him they are only to look at so I take them out of the display case but keep my eye on him.
junkyardjeff, do you have any pics of them? You must have quite a collection and I thought I or I should say my wife thinks I have to many! I just picked up a few more over the last couple of months.
uppster, boy I've got a loooong way to go to catch up with you,,,,,, 200 nah, I don't have the room for that many.
Jerry, thats so cool that they made a die cast out of your dragster, it sure was a beautiful one. What scale is the die cast model?
If ya have some pics of you cars go ahead and post them.

Jim, thanks for the info on Highway 61. Do you know if they have their own web site?
I'm just collecting kinda whatever hits my button right now. The next one I'm getting from the Danbury Mint is their Ace '35 Ford Pickup Vintage Hot Rod. Its kinda like an old parts delivery ratrod style truck. It even has a couple of Moon spun aluminum hubcaps in a scaled cardboard box in the bed.

Jim, thanks for the link. I'll have to check Ebay out again but I'm somewhat reluctant to buy off there after being burnt a time or two.

A man was watching his wife as she prepared to fry sausages in a pan. He noticed that before placing the sausages in the pan, she always cut off both ends, threw them away, and cooked only the middle...
