Joe, Have you in my prayers even as they have you under the knife. You are turning into a real kustom with all this chopping and sectioning. Hope you are well soon and never need the deductible in 2010.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

I just had a call from Joe. His surgery was successful. If things continue to go well he should get to go home on Thursday and won't have to celebrate New Years in the Hospital. Keep him in your prayers.

The first one being 30 yrs. ago is just a distant memory. This last one was an emergency situation - ambulance to hospital & surgery within 6-8 hrs. It was a bowel obstruction from the previous surgery - the scar tissue closed of the bowel. While he was in there fixing that he found more crohnes. We had a talk the next day about how to fix it the best way & back into surgery for operation # 2. Re-sectioned about 2" & put me back together good as new. I was in the hospital for 10 days. That was in early July & I'm about 90% now & feel great. The cost was $80. for the ambulance & about $800 for a semi private room. The rest was paid by our health system. Sorry it took so long to respond Evolvo.

Joe I wish you well with your Surgery and Healing . I must have Looked at this Post a Dozen Time's and just could not post . See my Mom Died at 52 from compactions from a Colon Resection due to crohnes Disease . Then Last year 2/14/09 it was my Turn to have a Colon Resection . But mine was Because of Colon Cancer . Today my older Sister E-Mailed me after having a Colon Scope Test and she had 4 Polyps removed . Good thing is they were not Cancerous . Many Time when Folk's Talk about Colon Problem they Like to kick in the Joke's ? Laugh if they want to . But Every one should have a Full Colon Scope Exam By age 50 . For me my Colon Resection is still healing and I have to be put to Sleep and Examed every 4 Months . I am doing ok all test have been cancer free coming up on 1 Year now in March is my Next Exam . I eat much better Food now and work out most every day . But still after this ordeal I Feel a Bit winded . And all the time's they Put you out changes the way your Mind Think's . Do what the Doctor's tell you to do . And Eat only good food and Chew it well .Wisdom is acquired by experience, not just by age

Tango - glad to hear your doing OK after your resection. Crohns is a terrible thing to have & to lose your mom at such a young age - unbearable. I'm sorry. Your right when Crohns is talked about everyone makes jokes & I think it's because it's an embarrassing thing to talk about. As I said in my first post I had my first operation 30 years ago - I'm now 67 & just had it again. I sure hope they find a cure soon. I feel so bad when I hear of the young that are getting it knowing what's ahead for them. Hang in there - you can have a good life - look at me - haven't felt this good in years.

Tango I'm sorry to hear about your mom but are happy to hear you & your siblings are on top of the problem. As far as laughing about it, I'll have to say this. That's all I can do, it helps me keep my sanity because of all the surgeries I have had over my lifetime(25). Now if some wants to "THINK" its a joke I am quick to correct them & inform them of how serious it can be. I also am one to point out the fact everyone should have one by 50 and as early as 35 if it runs in the family. This is no joking matter.
Evo at one time my deductable was $7500 plus 20% and that didn't include any hardware if needed that was another $5000. BUT w/the ins I have now it is exactly $880 and cost about 1/5 what it use to cost.
But enough of that...................
All went well, haven't taken a pain pill since Wens. morning and even the hospital food was excellent. Should get the 20 or so staples out in about a week. Doc told to do nothing for a couple of weeks & then do just light stuff for a month of so. I was to eat basicly no fiber for a couple of weeks and stay away from veggies w/skins and seeds along w/no fried steaks, chops, chick and other fried foods. Hell I can't even eat hot dogs or bologna, the world must be coming to an end when that happens...lol

Why did you start all this, Joe?
I wasn't familiar at all with the resection procedure until you brought it up a few days ago.
Well, guess what .....
I just got home after two nights in the hospital with problems I won't describe for fear of "grossing out" everybody on the forum. You and several other guys obviously know what I'm talking about!
So, Monday I have an appointment with a doctor to discuss getting me re-plumbed.
There are a bunch of things I hate about getting old.
This is just one of them.

MMMM, why did I start this topic?????
I'm sure you have heard the verse from the song "Lean on me brother" well that's what I am doing.
Like many of us here it is good to be an informed person & if that information helps others out then it was for the good. Plus this is one of many places form me to release along w/educate others on certain health problems that some of us have or have had. Plus I have a hellva lot of friends out there & have been asked more the once "Where have you been" when I haven't posted for several days. I would much rather just blurt it out & tell everyone then have some wondering, "MMMMMMMM, maybe I should call or send an email to find out"
If what I or others have posted has helped or saved just one person w/what we have said then we have done our jobs. Oh by the way when was the last time some of you that can give blood has????? Remember the life you save IS someone's loved one and at one time that someone was me, so thank you to all that has donated blood products over the years.....joeLast edited by TooMany2count; 01-02-2010 at 09:35 AM.

I hope it didn't sound like I was pickin' on you, Joe!
I guess I'm saying "Make room in the boat for me too because I'm in the same situation".
I lost a whole lot of blood in the ordeal and the doc told me my count was near where a transfusion was in order. He left it to me to say yes, no, or wait a little longer. I took the "wait" option in case they brought in somebody needing it worse than I did at that point.
They made me quit making my regular donations because I was put on a prostate medication that is a no-no where blood donations are concerned. At that time (about six months ago) I was in the Fort Worth blood center "Thirteen Gallon Club" so I won't feel guilty about taking a transfusion if I need one next time.
One of the greatest things about CHR is that every time word gets out that somebody needs support, regardless of the nature of that support, there is an outpouring of concern for that person, and that concern isn't lightly tendered (like maybe a funny get-well card or something like that).
It is very sincere. And I think that's great.
Glad you're doing okay!

Naaaaaaaaaaa, I knew you weren't.
Hey ya need someone to lean on???
Here I am
Thanks for giving blood, if it wasn't for people like yourself many of us wouldn't be around right now. I use to give platelets and blood also.
When I had to stop(back surgery) I had given over 60 units of platelets about about 10units of blood. Those folks liked seeing me because I could and would give 2 units of platelets every 2 weeks and blood about 3 months. If I am able to do it again, I'll be there like clockwork once again...joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE
