    oil sender unit conversion

i am nearing finish on our 86 z28 camaro we have changed out the engine with a carbuerated one but cant figure out how to do the oil sender unit. without the unit my car senses no oil pressure and will not pump gas to the motor. if any of you have a idea please let me know

    thank you

A sender is in essence a switch that is flipped when pressure builds up. You just have to determine if the original sender was normally open or normally closed, then either ground out that wire so it closes the circuit or insulate it so it isn't grounded out.

I would suspect that your system requires that you ground out the sender wire to simulate what would happen when the pressure rose. Try touching that wire to the engine block with the key on to see if it triggers the pump to run.

BTW Barb. if you are using the stock in tank pump from an injected motor it will have way too much pressure for a carb setup.

i have already installed a fuel pressure regulator between the incoming lines and the carb. it is a 3 way so it does not interfere with the return. i have set it for pressure for my carb. thanks for the help with the oil sender.

How much of the old wiring did you remove when you pulled out the ecu?
