Most of my music likes is a lot of the older stuff through the '80s as there usually was some sort of a message. I do not like opera and some of the heavier classical music while rap/hip-hop - I can't get to the button on the stereo quick enough. Many of the new singers/groups - cannot handle their off key shreiks. I do NOT like most of Frank Sinatra's musicDave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

I think we are seeing more and more singers that can't hold a tune, and I am thinking how do these people become singers. Look at the guy on American Idol, you could not understand what the guy was saying he could not dance and what is he doing today? making records!!! Go figure. They sure are not like the singers of years past with years of training by voice teachers. But thank God for singers like this that don't even need music to sing.

Was she a professional or just someone that sang in the family.
I have heard a few people that could really sing and did not do anything with it
or just didn't get a good break. Growing up in Vegas back in the 60's and 70's
I got to meet alot of people that were just starting out or trying to break in to the busness. They had lots of lounge acts even before Vegas got so big.
At the age of 16, I was Valet Parking cars at a popular Itlain restrant just off the Las Vegas strip. We would get all kind of show people comming thru there, it was prety excitting for a young kid to see. But to tell the truth I was there for the cars and we had some nice ones come thru, too. Kurt
is this her???

She's one of "The Grand Old Ladies" of the Opry. She sang duets with Bill Anderson and they had a show on TV in the late 60's. She took Mother Maybelle Carter's place in Johnny Cash's back up trio after Mother Maybelle died. On the recording of "Daddy Sang Bass" it's her singing "Momma Sang Tenor".Ken Thomas

I played in rock bands for many years and still like some of it but I mostly listen to Contemorary Christian or Southern Gospel these days. I do like the older country music, too.

I like a variety especially if there is meaning and the music is not too loud to the point you cannot understand the lyrics. Songs to me are like a short story that can bring back memories of the past or an event that really meant something. One example is Brooks and Dunn "Believe" that reminds me when I was a kid and a neighbor never gave up on me and I learned a lot from him. He was a good man May he Rest in peace.
