I grew up on 50's rock and roll, but I've kind of gotten burned out on that. I now listen to later rock, like AC/DC, Steely Dan, etc. I also love Blues, and hate Country. However, some of the Country that is borderline Rock is ok.
I have to beat Dan to the shop because he puts on some current hard rock that puts my nerves on edge. Don is ok, he likes old time R and R.

Heck Don,You don't like country, I will have to drop you down my xmas card list for that. What about the Eagles, I would class them as country rock IMHO.. I can image you racing into your workshop just to get the sound system tuned to what you want to listen too. Hate is just such a strong word isn't it and like everything, people have their likes and dislikes and it is up to everybody to except that as a part of life.
Kurt started a very good thread though and it is always interesting to here what stirs somebody elses emotions.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Heck Dave I didn't know they were still friendly enough to go back into the recording studio. I went and saw them in Auckland here when they did their "Hell Freezes Over" concert and even with misty rain throughout the concert, they were absolutely brilliant. I have their early stuff on CD and also Don Henley solo stuff on CD which is cool but haven't heard any new stuff from them. Individually each guy of the Eagles are absolutely brilliant musicians and excellent singers.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

I have that album as well and I believe it was recorded in Australia and NZ. They were at a venue about 10 miles from me and I could not get tickets even at $150 each for what they call The Lawn(it is!!) though my daughter and husband that live 300 miles away did - and are still raving about it years later. I even have all their cassettes and think the "spots" are about worn off the tape.Dave W

I seen them at the Aladan theater in Las Vegas growing up a couple of times and they were great, but like you said they were at their peak in the mid 70's.
Seen lot's of great concerts thee growing up.
Stealy dan, Bad company, Queen, Kiss, Foreigner, Blue Oyster cult, just to name a few.
I think the last concert I seen there was Sha Na Na in 1979 just before I went in the service. By the time I got out of the service they had close that concert hall down and opened the Thomas and Mack which felt more like being at a base ball game then a concert.

Bad Company,Kiss, Queen and Foreigner all great bands that I would of loved to gone and seen live you lucky thing Kurt. I guess NZ just wouldn't of been big enough for ticket sales to get groups like that down here.
One group that I was lucky enough to see three or four times live, and this may make you laugh, was Kenny Rodgers and The First Edition way back in the early 70's,and boy they were excellent. But now I don't think I would recognise Kenny after all his plastic surgery etc..
One group I have had the good fortune to see and throughly enjoy recently was the BeeGees' just before Maurice Gibb died, covering all their hit songs from the 60's to the present. Now I am starting to bore people with that commercial stuff..Last edited by Whiplash23T; 08-07-2010 at 04:45 PM. Reason: Miised a word out, dummie.

Kenny Rogers would come to my area a couple times a year - and he would fill the venue. I saw him at twice as well as John Denver at three times, the last a couple months before he was killed. Charlie Daniels did one of his televised shows locally - great show. Lots of pot being smoked(not me, didn't have to). Alabama, Oak Ridge Boys, REO Speedwagon, Rush are a few of the others I've seen. Those were the days........sighDave W

The Bee Gee's HA! HA! Boy that brings back some memories.
Mom made me and my little brother take danceing lessons though we didn't mind to much because the instructors were in their early 20's, women and very hot!!!
Now I have something to laugh about tonight.

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
