This is REALLY getting out of hand. How many does this make that we have seen stolen recently? They just busted a car ring down here, it turned out 3 Marines at Camp LeJeune were involved, as I recall. That is highly unusual.

Update: I just saw on another forum where a sharp eyed member spotted what looks like the same panel truck on a trailer at the DMV office! He took lots of pictures, even of the license plates on the tow car, trailer, and even pictures of the two guys who were towing it! I really hope this is true and that they can track down these lowlifes.
It looks like the thieves "aged" the truck by sanding the paint down, and removing the name off of the sides, but it sure looks like the same one. Supposedly, the owner has been notified and has confirmed that is his car. Keep our fingers crossed.

Jeez, sorry about the huge pictures, I just downloaded what was on that other forum without checking the size.Last edited by Itoldyouso; 08-13-2010 at 07:51 AM.

Update 2..........It has been reported that the vehicle was found and 6 people arrested. They were an hour from getting out of the States at the border. Chalk one up for the good guys.

Fantastic! It is great to see this type of ending to the story, even with the "aging" process that they did.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Sometimes it seems like criminals just get a slap on the wrist or released early because of prison overcrowding. However, these guys screwed up and committed this one in ARIZONA, where they just passed that new law about checking to see if a person is a legal alien when they are questioned by a cop. The Sheriff there is a no nonsense guy named Joe Arpaio who has no sympathy for law breakers. He has created a tent city there where inmates are housed in 120 degree temps at times, and he makes them wear pink clothing.
I hope they get the book thrown at them and have a long stay in one of Joes tents.

That's great news, I've seen the panel in person at least once and it's a neat one.
I'm really curious on how they got paper on it at DMV. I suppose it's possible that the time between it was reported stolen and when they took it to DMV was too short for the stolen report to make into the system…..if that’s the case something needs to be done about the system. In any case people at DMV should be VERY closely looked at.
Unfortunately with prison overcrowding and funding cuts etc I doubt they get the sentence they probably deserve……..although a tent in Phoenix this time of year and chain gang (yes sheriff Joe does that too) time is probably harder than they’d get elsewhere.Last edited by Mike P; 08-13-2010 at 05:35 AM.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Great news, I'll adjust the headline to reflect that it has been recovered

These guys weren't rocket scientists, they even let the guy who spotted them take pictures of them and the whole rig. I guess he posed as a guy who was just interested in their old car, but in fact he was gathering evidence to get to the owners. Hat is off to the guy who made this recovery possible.
One of the shows on TV I like is Bait Car, where the cops have a computer controlled car that they put out on the street and then wait for car thieves to come along and steal it. It's really nice to watch the bad guys (and sometimes gals) laughing their butts off, thinking they have scored a nice car, and then watching the mood change as the cops shut it down and move in for the arrest. I LOVE it!!!!!!!

Curious? I hope they don't give these idiots over to I.C.E. and deport them, they will be back the next day.The mamby pamby liberals here are doing everything to get rid of Sheriff Joe,I hope these thieves enjoy the heat advisory in Tent City the next few days.Last edited by JeffB2; 08-13-2010 at 04:39 PM. Don,we have heard of the fearsome sherriff Joe and his tent city..in fact he was on our tv in an American COPS type program, showing what he has,and also,we have a guy down here who runs a Trust, called Sensible Sentencing Trust, who has been to the camp, and seen how it all works,as he would like our system to work the same,or similar...Can you imagine the out cry from the nanny brigade we have down here...
And we also have had a show on tv based on your Bait Car...Arent crims dumb???Micah 6:8

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
