Ive been to all the AmeriCARna festivals as they started out in my hometown. The first year was all run by volunteers and our hot rod club did its bit. We had a ball.
And this year, we went to the first one at the bottom of our south island, which unfortunately clashed with the Beach Hop up north.
The 2 best things about the event -
1) No car show judging
2) You get to drive your car to a new town each day.
The only requirements are that your car is American - you can rock up in a 2010 Chevvy pickup, or a 1923 T bucket. Everyones welcome. And one dude turned up in his Mack truck - because he could.

Glad you guys enjoyed it,we also have done the three in the North Island, but couldnt afford to do the South Island event..We always have a few out of town folk stay here so they can do it too..
As whiplash says,we have good access to spare parts, new and used,so its no problem to build, import, whatever you want..Exchange rate varies, obviously, but we have to pay about $1.42 NZ for an American dollar at the moment..has been better, but also a whole lot worse too...
Good onya Roger...didja feel homesick mate??Specially seein all that Taranaki grass....yay..
And yeah,,definitely on the bucket list...get up there to America and cruise as much as we can in the available time we have...Micah 6:8
If we aren't supposed to have midnight snacks,,,WHY is there a light in the refrigerator???
Robin.
Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
