do not know as i have not converted the oil pressure gauge. will do that this afternoon. when i say rather quickly i mean within 10 minutes. when i filled the radiator i did so with antifreeze, water, and 4 ounces of water wetter. when i replaced the thermostat i did so with a 180.

Who would have thought our Barb would be the terror of the neighborhood !

Barb, something we have started using is Bars Leaks water pump lubricant and anti rust additive. What a difference it makes in how corrosion free the steel parts stay. When we first put Dan's Olds together we just used a 50/50 mix and some water wetter. When we tore the engine apart after that parts like the steel spring inside the radiator hose were already rusted badly. Next time we did it we added the Bars Leak stuff and when we tore the engine out the next time that spring and the inside of the block looked like new metal. We are going to use it from now on. Just thought I would mention it. We were talking to a guy at a car show one night and he says he has been using it for years and the insides of his engines stay like new.

Barb, it is cheap too, like $ 3.00 a can that treats 12 quarts of coolant. Autozone and Advance both carry it.

okay so i went and brought a sunpro electrical oil pressure gauge. they said that i also needed the sending unit so i got that too. the sending unit has one end for the electircal and one end for the mechanical to hook up to it. i do not need the mechanical because i am hooing it up ti a wire coming from the engine. but i am being told that i still need the sending unit. how do i hook this up. also this afternoon i have to replace the rear seal on the tranny as it is leaking fluid. so much fun

The wire from the engine should be hooked up to an idiot light on the dash, remove it from the idiot light and hook it to one side of the gauge. The other side of the gauge should have a 12 volt source.

Barb. the threaded part of the sending unit screws into the block. the gauge wire will connect to the new sending unit.

Barb, you'll find the oil sender located at the back of the block a little towards the passenger side, below the intake approximatly here.

Just remove the old sender and screw in the new (there is a special socket to remove the factory sender that does make life easier).
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....
