Thanks,Joe..HotrodToddy lives down there, but not there at home for a few days, just his wife and family..They are all ok,but there has been some damage..Go up to an earlier post and hit on the links..the hotrod mag site has three pages of comments from some of the southern rodders..EVERYONE has been very lucky in many ways,in that at least no one has been killed, but there are a few serious injuries..one guy wore a brick chimney, and is serious..Perhaps the thing that has saved many is the time it happened,,4.35AM.There was no one on the streets in any great number..
Thank you all for your concern,,its very much appreciated..

Here's a new article from the UK's Daily Mail - holy moly - you folks in NZ are beyond lucky:

I have been thinking of all of you in NZ since I heard of this. Glad nobody got dead from it; the rest of the damage, hard as it is to swallow, can be repaired or replaced in time. Having the benefit of being a "shaky town" native and lifelong resident, I know you all will get it handled. If there is anything that I can offer, it is morale support.

Twistin' and bangin' on stuff for about sixty or so years; beat up and busted, but not entirely dead - yet.

Guys, and gal[s],go back to post 4 and hit on the hot rod mag link again...there are more posts from the southern clan, and a bunch more pix..
Hotrod Todd goes home tomorrow I think, not sure how much damage his house got, think he is one of the lucky ones, whereas a friend of mine has a few cracks in his house, and he has lost his chimney,,still one of the luckier ones..
Thanks again for your concern, the country will pull together and get it sorted..If nothing else,it is bringing the building trade out of a temporary slump[sorry, wrong word for the circumstances]...They are still having aftershocks up to 4.5 /5 magnitude,,and today, there was one up here on the east coast of the North Island,in a resonably sparsely settled area..That was a 5 too I think..
    Yeah,heres another link.
