All the (alleged) news folks mentioned so far on here are a far cry from what journalism is supposed to be; an impartial reporting of the FACTS concerning a story so that the viewer may form his own opinion. That's even getting hard to find on public TV and Radio anymore. I guess no matter what your political beliefs there is a "network" to feed your need!!! I just don't care to listen to anyone who is trying to tell me how to think and what to believe.
Maybe if we were to all just turn off the boob tube and vote OUT all the incumbants we could go back to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people instead of a government that is for sale to the highest bidder???
Seems the media is only concerned with digging up dirt, inciting people to hatred, and promoting whatever cause brings them the most revenue....Seems everything and everyone has to be totally radical to one extreme or the other and rather forming a plan of their own to solve this countries' problems they spend all their time and effort bad mouthing the guys on the other side. Moderation and comprimise seem to be totally out of fashion and are now a sign of weakness!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

There it is, there's the answer. Here's why.....
Start with a cage containing five monkeys. Inside the cage hangs a banana on a string and a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. After a while, another monkey makes the attempt with the same result, all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.
Now, put the cold water away. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his shock, all the other monkeys beat the snot out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.
Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked and beaten. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm.
Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked. Most of the monkeys who are beating him up have no idea why they are participating in the beating or why they were not permitted to climb the stairs in the first place. After replacing all the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana.
And that dear voters, is how Congress operates. No new monkey that we install in the House or Senate is allowed by the other monkeys to attempt to improve the system or change it in any way. It is precisely why we must unseat EVERY incumbent in the House and Senate this November 2, 2010 and install a whole new set of monkeys. There won't be another General Election until 2012, so if we don't do it now, we'll have to endure the antics of the monkeys we currently have for another two years.Last edited by techinspector1; 09-22-2010 at 09:50 PM.

Richard - If 'twere only so easy. Sigh.
Here in NY we are trying to 'replace' our current monkeys, Chuckie Shumer and the Harry Reid declared Hottie, Kirsten Gillibrand plus our local 20th Cong District idiot, Scott Murphy. The Senate folks running have minimal money to fight the incumbants, nor any name recognition. I don't even know their names yet. The HR guy running is just starting to get money and name recognition and has zero political background as having just retired from 25 years in the military. I've met him several times and will again tonight.
One fact about a politician. Many (most??) don't give a diddly squat about you. They are trying to stay in office and will start campaigning for the next election the day after they are sworn in - it's about power and keeping a job.
Now with that said, you get the picture as to why newbies are seldom easily elected. There are other ways to help vote out your useless incumbents - work with your favorite political party to get the new guy's name recognized and elected - I do. Also - send that new guy some bucks.
(We might have an upsetter of a dynasty - Palladino is catching Cuomo in the polls. But is he too bombastic/crude??)Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Funny - I mean, peculiar, how most (99.9%) of the folks on forums that I participate in are all of one mind, and how most of the people I regularly hold discourse with feel the same way. There are so many of us, that if the poli-rats did force something on us, and we didn't just physically sweep them off the face of the earth, they would have to build the worlds largest penal institution to house us all. Them idirats may be arrogant and somewhat one sided, but I do not for a second think they are that stupid; they'll try to wear us down a bit at at time, instead. And yeah, I went to the NRA-ILA and looked, too; old news. That's not to say we shouldn't remain vigilant, just take a lot of this stuff with a grain of salt. I have a very good friend who is a genuine "Chicken Little", and she just forwards stuff without any research, although she is getting better - it's taken a long time to get through to her. I still check up on things I get that are internet based.Rrumbler, Aka: Hey you, "Old School", Hairy, and other unsavory monickers.
Twistin' and bangin' on stuff for about sixty or so years; beat up and busted, but not entirely dead - yet.

Right on Evolvo - I try and listen to a bit from both sides and balance with other sources and the only web site that I know to be 100% factual all the time is Club Hot Rod!"Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil

Dave and Tech have hit the nail on the head! Here in little Delaware, a long time Congressman/Govenor/Representative just got beat by a newcomer. Yes, Mike Castle is a goner, just like Arlen Specter, another longtermer! Maybe things are starting to turn around....CRI thought I knew a lot, until I had teenagers!

Evolvo, you and I have bumped heads in the past, but I will stand up for your right to your opinion even though I disagree with it.
The fly in the ointment with the statement this lady makes in the video you referenced is that there is never an end to increasing taxes. It just means more and more and more government and more and more and more control over the taxpayers. Wouldn't it be refreshing to wake up one morning to find that Congress has begun reducing the money spent on foolish projects and put a stop to increasing the size of government and that the tax burden would begin decreasing for ALL taxpayers? It was only a few years ago when I was a kid in the whole scope of things. And in that era, a Congressman or Senator was lucky to have one person on their payroll, someone to answer the phone. Today, each of them have staff numbering in the hundreds. Yet the stupid voters continue to vote for the same old faces, election after election. So, you can't blame the politicians. If they can get away with it, so be it. It's human nature. Grab and grab and grab until someone stops you. Problem is, nobody is stopping them.
There are those of us who consider ourselves patriots in the sense that we would like to see the country run as it was envisioned by the founding fathers, not by socialists who think there is never an end to spending someone else's money and supporting those who would not work. Socialism and Communism have failed everwhere in the world that they have been tried, yet there are those in power who simply will not give up the idea of trying to foist off Socialism/Communism on the American people. I resent someone trying to change this country into another type of government from which it was originally designed. I don't know if any of you were paying attention to Barack Obama during his first days in office, but he actually began dismantling some of the spendthrift programs that were in place. I remember seeing him on TV talking about it. Well, you see how long that lasted. Maybe a couple of days. "Now, back to our regularly scheduled broadcast".
We were warned over and over by the framers of the Constitution that there would be those who would try to change the country into some other type of government from which it was designed. We were warned to be vigilant and maintain close control of the elected officials or "public servants". We were warned not to give up our guns and we even have an amendment to the Constitution disallowing Congress from taking away our guns. But those words seem to have fallen on deaf ears. For instance, where in the world did "Executive Orders" come from. This is no different than giving the President the same power as a King. Obama, just the other day, signed an Executive Order prohibiting the return of one million M1 Garand rifles to this country which we had sent to South Korea during the conflict. They have better arms these days and have no further need for the M1's. With the stroke of a pen, Obama refused to allow ownership of these arms by American citizens. Little by little, our rights to keep and bear arms are being eroded. Those who have plans to take over control of the country (and of the world) know that they must take away all the guns to do so. I'm talking about the Rothschilds and the Rockefellers and other big money groups who have designs on controlling the world. Just remember, he who has the gold makes the rules.
The world is changing and I don't much like it.

And why did I pay attention in school, try to be successful, keep my word, and save for my family's future when the government wants to take my savings away from me and give it to the guy who didnt do any of the above?
