Sorry if this seems political sounding. That is not my intent as all I'm trying to point out is that the NRA is in deep dirty political doo doo
I have today just lost all respect for the NRA. They just have endorsed the wrong guy. The one that they endorsed. He is Congressman Scott Murphy, 20th Congressional District incumbent.
Now why is that so bad? OK, the guy running against him for the office, Chris Gibson has just retired from 24 years (March) in the US Army. Several(7) tours in Iraq, Afghanistan as well as Kosovo. He was the head of the 82nd Airborne relief effort in Haiti, has a Purple Heart, FOUR Bronze Stars, etc, etc,etc and is (was?) a member of the NRA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_G...l_candidate%29.
Now, Mr Murphy - voted for after voting against Cap and Trade, for ObamaCare, for no COL for Social Security for us OF's, just to name a few. To make his endorsement a farce, he also was a Harvard radical and was instrumental in keeping the military recruiters out of Harvard and wrote much against the ROTC http://www.murphyabovethelaw.com/issues_military.php
Was the NRA bought? Sure looks like it to me. They are for sure no longer my spokesman for gun rights and I will probably not renew my membership in a couple of months when due unless they withdraw that endorsement!!Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

The problem is these guys in power don't have to live by the same rules they are forcing us to live by.

Dave, I dont think the NRA was "bought." The NRA's position is ONLY regarding guns and gun rights...they remain 100% neutral on all other issues. Also, they, by consistent rule, back the incumbent IF the incumbent is pro-gun regardless of how patriotic or other credentials of the challenger....another way to remain somewhat neutral AND to cover their butt since the incumbent wins in a majority of the elections (but not this year).
They are the best organized and have the best record of success of any pro-gun operation.

I really don't think either party wants to get involved in any type of gun legislation right now. It seems that a majority of current Democratic voters are for gun rights too.

There will be nothing even resembling controversial in congress between now and November... the only concern of the slugs in DC is to get themselves are others from their party reelected. Then, by December the main empahsis is the next presidential election, so forget about any progress then, too. As for what's best for the country, that's never a concern out there--or many other places for that matter. All that matters is what's best for me and my group, right????
Finger pointing at the other party hasn't accomplished a dang thing in the last 3 decades, rather doubtful in will in the future either....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Don't know who started this "Gun Control" rumor, but as Dave suggested I did look in to it. Seems that it turns out to be Ancient History and is long gone.
But I must comment on the comments by Evolvo above. Did Ms. Sherrod make a racist remark at a speech she gave at one time? Well maybe and maybe not depends intirely on the context of those remarks. They sound racist until you hear the intire speech, and then they seem to take on a whole nuther meaning. That then brings forth the question: Did some over react to those comments? They resulted in her being forced to resign but the over-reaction was complettly on the part of the White House and no one else.
Bret Baier, I believe that is his correct name and not "Breitbart". Well the truth is the tape was not only not edited by Mr. Baier but also wasn't even shown by anyone on the Fox Network until "AFTER" Ms. Sherrod was forced to resign by her boss at the dept of Agriculture. Fox did not air any of those tape clips until after the event of her resignation were long over by two or three hours. Fox even the next day aired a complete summary of the 24 hour period encompassing 10 Hours before her resignation was requested and there was no aired segments that showed any of Ms. Sherrod's aledged racist remarks at all until after she had left her position.
The only reason I even bring this up is the last sentence of Evolvo's comments above.
"Don't believe anything you here on conservative talk shows! They're paid very well to keep you scared and gullible"
I believe that those very comments would also apply to the Liberal Media. as well. Anyone who believes they can believe one word coming from any reporter on MSNBC or CNN or any of the Main Stream Media is absolutly fooling thereself. By and large all of these folks are out to further some cause of there own. We all would be best served in believing and trusting in the people than any of those dump a*& talking heads.
RSProtected people will never know or understand the intensity life can be lived at. To do that you must complettly and totally understand the meaning of the word "DUCK"
